Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency, and the Future of Global Finance

LOL the dollar is not a finite supply. XRP not only is a finite supply, it is also deflationary. It will click for you soon, probably when it is too late. Don't fret you have lots of company!!!
I've already had that discussion with some of these guys. That is like talking to a brick wall. Their USD is no more or less worthless than these cryptos.

Every man, woman, and child in the United States could own over $2,000 of Bitcoin and it would still be considerably less than the market cap of that crypto. And there are 10,000+ alternate coins.

I’m maybe just a naive dummy, but isn’t the argument for even higher and higher crypto valuations dependent on a radical disruption in the established worldwide financial system and the first world economic superpowers not countering?

Yes for the 1000th time.

And the world is preparing for it. Just because we do not believe it or the news is not flashing it is irrelevant!!!!

A majority of those will be regulated out of existence. One step at a time.

So it sounds like reecetn is saying that cryptocurrency is a scam, and they are waiting for the .gov to clean it up for them. Sounds like something to go all in on boys.

LOL, I guess it is hard to quote your hallucinations?

Yes...............

SEC Must Surrender Hinman Email on Ether to Ripple, Judge Rules

Court grants Ripple bid to force ex-SEC director to testify in XRP case

UH OH is this corruption at the highest level????????????
Hinman’s Revolving Door Now Swings to Andreessen Horowitz - CryptoLaw

Why Maybe it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Former SEC Director of Corporation Finance William Hinman continues his journey around the golden revolving door. The man who helped take Alibaba public in 2014 as a partner at the Ethereum-connected law firm Simpson Thacher went into the SEC in order to give public regulatory clarity to only one cryptocurrency – ETH – to then exit the SEC and return to Simpson Thacher. Well, he was not finished.

But cryptos are supposed to be decentralized and an escape hatch for the people, also.

We just need more govt regulations to get things right...

Where are the crypto guys? We need them to explain how crypto can bypass the actions of the Canadian (and US) govt.

It is a whole lot easier to pass cash across the border. This lie that laundering - criminal activity being easier with crypto is funny.

On the confiscation topic, if crypto is kept on a cold storage ledger wallet good luck confiscating it!!!!

I admittedly don’t know enough to offer a comprehensive answer.

Truth is I don’t know why we have not seen DeFi move to the forefront of that funding issue. Would seem to me their very existence was tailor made for this scenario.

Maybe they don’t like the Truckers
Maybe they feel threatened by the .Govs
Maybe they don’t think they’re ready

I don’t know.

@n_huffhines any thoughts on why we have not seen DeFi enter the chat up North?

I honestly haven't paid attention to what's happening in Canada. I don't know anything about that story.

Berkshire Hathaway’s Charlie Munger compares crypto to ‘venereal disease’

Berkshire Hathaway’s billionaire vice chairman Charlie Munger compared cryptocurrencies to a sexually transmitted disease – and added that he believes the Chinese were right to ban them.

The 98-year-old, right-hand man to Warren Buffett blasted bitcoin and other digital currencies in an interview at the Daily Journal’s annual meeting. When a shareholder asked Munger if he was “willing to admit he missed something” by not investing in crypto, Munger let loose.

“I’m proud of the fact that I avoided it. It’s like some venereal disease or something,” Munger said. “I just regard it as beneath contempt. Some people think it’s modernity and they welcome a currency that’s useful in extortions and kidnappings and so on and so on, tax evasions.”

OK, so now that I've read what @theFallGuy shared, Canadians can bypass what the government is doing by setting up their own wallets and not relying on exchanges. Exchanges refi defi, if you know what I mean. So they can still get $ to these protesters, it just can't be on these exchanges.

What Canada is doing is extremely concerning regardless of what you think about crypto. I mean, they went after gofundme because they don't like the politics of where the $ is going.

The resources being poured into this by the Canadian government is insane. For what? To insist truckers have to be vaccinated?
This has nothing to do with vaccines anymore. This is about the government putting those who dare buck them back in their place. Any they’re happy to declare whatever emergency or crisis that allows them the extraordinary power to accomplish that. Trudeau will never come off his position, the only recourse is to do everything possible to make these protesters lives so miserable or expensive they’re forced to go home. The people cheering on the Canadian government do so because they agree with this particular issue. They’re too short sighted to understand that this same playbook could be run against them on the next issue they disagree with.
