BJ Coleman and the Mocs (merged)

Well we all see that all the hype about BJ was wrong...he's been doing great at UTC but his stats today against Alabama were horrbile....Coleman went 7/25 36 passing yards and 2 INT's

Not sticking up for him when I say this (he's a quitter, and I'm glad he left), but there were quite a few dropped passes from his WR's. He made some good throws the parts of the game I watched, but the WR's just dropped them most of the time.

im guessing you wernt watching the game....i counted several drives where there were 4 drop passes in a row...don't hate on what you didnt see. he has no recievers. do i think he would have been that good at UT? no...but to look at those stats, i bet you didnt realize bama blitzed 6-7 people every play and his line didnt block. and he still got the ball to the recievers to watch it hit them in the hands and fall to the ground.

I'm no B.J. fan at all, but I don't think it's very logical to question the "hype" surrounding him by this game. He's not exactly playing for a '70s Steelers team.

Pretty stupid thread. I doubt any QB could've made much of a difference in this type of game. He's playing with a UTC offense against an #2 ranked Alabama defense.

I'm not hating on BJ by any means...i think he is a great player...but seeing as our OL has mostly Walk-On players on it...i don't think he would have done much better at UT. BJ was a better baseball player than he was football...he should've stuck with that

Imagine how much the Colemanites would be pounding their chests right now if the Mocs had actually scored yesterday.

You do understand that UTC's first string pales in comparison to Alabama's 4th string right?

Willy, I'm not really calling you out, but a lot of posters have started these BJ threads (especially earlier in the season when Cromp was struggling) touting BJ's stats vs. Cromptons. Versus a common opponent Coleman obviously had his worst day and that's where these posters should make their comparisons, but you won't see them.

Making comparisons when dealing with a common opponent does not make sense because we will never see these two playing with teammates of a common skill level.

So no sense in debating it.

I agree with you. Just like making comparisons with how he looked against our 2nd string defense during practices or the O&W made no sense. But it did not stop Colemanites.

Not trying to start a debate just pointing out why others continue to keep starting BJ threads. Touting BJ's stats against below par opponents Vs. Crompton's early season struggles prior to the Phoenix-esque rise.

That's true too.
