Has there been an update to the board? Just My system? When I cllicked on ALERTS instead of it saying a post is Liked, it says someoe REACTED to it and at the end indicates it was liked. Are there going to be additional reaction options? I have asked for that in the past so one could give an UNLIKE to a post rather than having to replay and create another line of data. I hate the dilemma when I see a post worthy of challenge but hating to fill up the board that way when a thumbs down COULD do.

There has been a big a update to the board, and Freak has said he'll be sorting out the implementation hiccups soon.

Also, I would strongly, strongly recommend VolNation not add dislikes or anything else related to downvoting. In my many, many years of experience, (all the way back to days of Prodigy and then some), negative reaction shortcuts create a more adversarial experience and can degrade both the quality and quantity of conversation on a forum. A lot of people don't like the idea of participating in conversations if they can get nailed with casual dislikes or negative feedback; I don't mean the true a-holes, I mean regular people. And talking about the Vols shouldn't be a popularity contest. Downvoting has always killed the mood everywhere I've participated online, and, frankly, the mood and social engagement here on VolNation is pretty damn good as it is. I wouldn't want to see that jeopardized.

I just noticed, when I hit reply on your post (I'm on a desktop computer so I don't know about mobile) it know actually quotes your post visually instead of showing the quote tags at the beginning of the post like it used to.

My apologies.... I encountered the change on the Recruiting board and the update was not pinned on that site. I returned to the football board to post the question to not clutter up the board with the SUPPOSED issue, but did not check the pinned stuffed before I did.

Still no dislike button

I visit the politics forums every now and again. I won't name any names; however, there are three to four particular folks that just may cause a system crash if a dislike button were to be made active. Probably better off the way it is

So, I’ve tried just copying and pasting GIFs and that didn’t work, said it was too large after uploading. I’ve tried using the picture button and adding it there to upload, no dice. Also just tried just pasting the URL like below, and no dice. I do get a loading message for a moment once the post is submitted, but then just shows the URL.

Any other recommendations? I’m on Safari on an IPhone.

Edit: So, it seems to only be Tenor gifs. Just pasted a GIPHY URL and it worked just fine. See below:

For those tenor links, or really image, the best way is to click the picture icon in the toolbar, then click on the link icon at the top and past the url of the image into the box. For some reason, some animated gifs when copied and pasted, are being converted to png for some reason. I'll look into that further.

Where do you select dark mode using mobile?

For anyone who still hasn't found it, scroll to the bottom and click on VolNation 2023 and select dark mode.

Alerts are not really readable in dark mode until after they are clicked on now.

The upgrade screwed up a bunch of stuff in the themes. I'll get that alert background color fixed today. Let me know if you see anything else out of whack.

There is an option for multiple reactions which we may look into at some point, but I doubt any of them would be a dislike option.

I can see your position, but for an old guy, I BELIEVE if it is worthy of a dislike that I will reply and get a lot more argumentative with facts or OPINIONS (the oft used defense of posts) instead of just adding a reply with a simple dislike statement. Just a quantified list of a thumbs down symbol to offset a quantified list of thumbs up seems fair and would take up fewer inches on the page. For sure it might get lots of use when suspect TROLL posts are initiated. 10 replies would take up a bunch of space where 10 thumbs down not so much.

I will of course yield to administrations wisdom. However, the original question still stands, will there be REACTIONS other than like, even if not dislike.
