Bob Knight interested in UGA job

BN is one of my favorite figures in sport but what does bringing him to HC do for your program? Other than give it much needed exposure I dont see any long term benefit. He will not recruit due to players these days not wanting to play for that style. And he will not be there for the long haul.

IU doesn't need a motivator...they need scholarship players. But saying that IU fans are bland and need motivation is crazy. Crean will be successful there...

And by the way Bruce Pearl would not last at IU longer than 3 years. They would never hire him in the first place though so there's no way of proving that...

I spent the first 18 years of my life living in Indiana and was following IU basketball 20 years before you were even born. You or your family don't have a clue what the Indiana fan base needs. You were probably all Mike Davis fans. Whether the Administration showed it or not with the previous two Coaching hires, the Indiana fan base has integrity and they understand the game of basketball and how it should be played. Tom Crean will be the coach of the Hoosiers for many years. If you had watched any of there games this year, you would recognize that. They are far short on talent but it is already noticable how well coached they have been in the fundamentals of the game.

It's hilarious how you could think that Crean is only temporary and that IU would "throw the kitchen sink at Pearl". HatVol called it best. They're not interested in a snake oil salesman.

Hey it's all good. I don't think that Crean is the long term solution to IU, and some of you obviously do. Agree to disagree.

you're easily the first person i've come across with any kind of "connection" to Indiana basketball who feels like Crean is not the answer.

fyi, Indiana had their "Bruce Pearl" (for lack of a better term honestly) and his name was Terry Hoeppner. it's just a real shame he passed away before he had the chance to really build up the football program.

Georgia would be stupid to hire Knight.

My reasons are this:

1. He wont be there long i give him 5 years at the max, in 5 years Georgia will have to look for another coach. Why not go after a young & upcoming coach that will stay there for years to come.
2. Knight just wont be able to put what he use to into this.
3. Kids now days just dont see Knight as what he use to be. He doesnt impress kids now days.



Will Knight bring discipline & respect to Georgia? Yes. Will he bring instant recognition to Georgia? Yes.

But what Georgia needs is a good up & coming coach to establish that program. I never really understood how they let all those Atlanta kids get out of state.


But with that said why not let them hire Knight, Tennessee wouldnt have to deal with them for 5 more years.

according to the great Slimbum would run to T-Town if the offer was extended....guess slimy wants to try and orchestrate that so he would have 2 idols to hyperventilate over....why Knight would go to that dump in T-Town is beyond me...GA would be much more appealing.

It's already began. UK fans on call in shows and message boards are saying fire Gillispie and hire Knight before Georgia does. :eek:lol:
