The university's lawyers will huddle up and see what they think they can get away with. They won't want to get rid of him, but they may end up feeling like they have no choice. I doubt anybody commenting on this right now has any idea what the relevant Arkansas statutes say.
UT already put up with something very similar regarding Lane Kiffin, and he hadn't done nearly as much to turn the football program around yet. The giant difference this time is, obviously, the girl's legal status as an employee. Petrino's fate will hang on what the lawyers decide that means.
