Say what you want the reasons to hire Petrino are undeniable.

1) The man wins, 75-26 record.
2) Due to his recent history, he will not demand big time money. With Dooleys buyout, this will lessen the financial impact.
3) Also with his recent history, you can bet he is hungry and eager to put it behind him. Also, with his past, he will be on his best behavior.
4) His coaching staff is mostly complete and will be freed up once Arkansas cut John L loose.
5) Bray, Hunter, and Patterson will most likely leave unless they have a reason to stay. With Petrino, they would most likely realize that staying would greatly improve their draft stock.

I know the guy has had his issues but we don't need a pen pal or fishing buddy. We need a proven coach and I believe the choice is very clear.

I love the University of Tennessee far too much to ever wish for a slime ball like Bobby Petrino to walk our side lines as head coach. Did the Kiffin debacle teach us nothing?

I would be one that agrees with your points. Hart can protect UT by making sure the contract has clauses in it if Petrino were to try and leave before his contract is up. He can win in the SEC. That is what we need right now.

One of these days when we're done paying coaches' buyouts maybe we can get back to the $500 handshakes.

This guy is a straight up winner and would be one of the best hires we could make. Sure, he went and had an affair, but this isn't a morality contest. It's about W's. I don't understand the hate against Petrino.

So we trade in a loser for a lier?

Are we hiring a new on-campus recruiting coordinator too?

Good God not another Petrino thread. Was nothing learned from Kiffin? And Petrino makes Kiffin look like a stand up guy. No SEC team will be hiring Petrino any time soon and probably ever. Its not happening at UT and not even AU or UK will be hiring him.

Your realize the affair has nothing to do with no SEC team hiring him. Just go read the other Petrino thread and will tell you everything you need to know. But having an affair is Not the reason why he will never coach at UT or any other SEC team.

Rumors of "what was going on" means little to nothing if the NCAA has done nothing about it. Alot of shady stuff has went on Tennessee over the years and as long as there are no sanctions, it's all good. I have very little doubt that Petrino will coach in the SEC again.

He's lied EVERYWHERE he's been; to his players, to his administration, to state authorities, to board of trustees, to the media, to EVERYBODY.

I F'ING LOATHE losing but I'm not going to sell my soul to the devil in the name of winning. I'd like to keep our integrity. There are other coaches available.

Ok, he left Atlanta with little class and yes the guy cheated on his wife and lied about it. Is he the first guy to leave a job he wasn't happy with and is he the first guy to cheat on his wife?

I know there are issues but Kiffen wanted to make Tennessee into USC because that's where he really wanted to be. That's not the case with Petrino, he just wants to win.

As for your love of Tennessee, I bleed orange as well and I want them back where they belong. It kills me to watch them bumble through each week.

Look at Kentucky, they took a chance on Cal and three years the have a title and are back. Look at Bama, they took a chance on Saban and now they have two championships and are back on top. Both guys had character flaws but their impact justified the risk.

The larger the risk, the larger the reward. Dooley is proof of that.

Around 7pm tonight somebody with a neck brace on a hog with a blonde chick just crashed in the rock spilling a bag of spray cans. After several minutes the dude finally stood up and grabbed one of the cans. He continued to spray paint "Fire Dools and Hire Me" on the rock. Cheek send out an emergency email alert wanting help indentifying who the heck is "me". A preliminary contact has been drawn up for 3.5 million/year for 3 years to Mr. Me if UT administration can just find him.

he doesnt need to be an elite recruiter. The guy won 11 games in 2011 with average talent. He won 10 games in 2010. Had 11 wins at Louisville one year, had 12 wins another. That makes him ELITE. The guy is the best coach in college football.

I think with the same level of talent Petrino wins just as many games as Saban or anyone else.

Sanctions has nothing to do with it, he has run a clean program. But when things that can get your university and AD sued and when ethics are involved especially in this day and age of sexual harassment and things related to that will do more damage than probation.

You know.....I used to say heck no to this. But honestly....I'm at the point now where I'd love to have him. He would win. And I'm down with winning. This whole losing thing is old.

He didnt just lie to University officials, he defrauded the university, a state institution, when he hired his piece on the side in a B.S. position.

Hiring him would open THIS University up to law suits if he was hired.

No. I DO NOT WANT.

Again he hasnt won a title of any sort muchless any championship. To do that you have to be able to recruit. He is nowhere close to the best coach in college football. Let him win a few National Championships or hell even a conference championship. His team was the one responsible for helping break Ohio States losing record against SEC teams in BCS and bowl games. So no he is nowhere close to the best in college football.

Saban
CKelly
Meyer
Miles
Stoops
Spurrier
Brown

And thats just off the top of my head that have proven more

Ok genius, let's say that there was no accident. Let's say Petrino was still the coach of Arkansas. Where do you think they would be? Top ten, maybe top five? And if they were, would you have any issue if at the end of their season , he left to take over UT? No, you would be thrilled. So the whole thing revolves around a motorcycle accident.

Ok, keep Dooley cause he is a moral compass. Or hire Charle Strong, he got his rear handed to him by Syracuse. Oh, hire some up and coming assistant coach like Kirby Smart even though he has no experience building a staff or running an entire program. Wait, you still holding out on Gruden? Yeah, and I'm still holding out for Kate Upton.
