Bonaroo 2011

I'd add a few more onto that list: Justine Townes Earle, Ray Lamontague, Del McCoury with Prez Hall, MMJ, Dr. John, STS9, Bela Fleck, Hayes Carll.

The talent is definitely there but I don't know how it will all be divided up, having never been before. Are stages broken up by similar genre or anything like that?

There is one stage (either Sonic or Sonar...I forget) that is the techno stage and it goes till nearly 7am. Other than that, they don't break up the stages by genre. They have one really big stage, one stage that is smaller than that but still big, and then like four other tent stages. It's pretty crazy the quality of acts you get playing on the not-main stages.

You need to get out more.

You can knock me for saying that Metallica and Pearl Jam were good headliners all you want, but they have been around for a long time and have enjoyed great success in that time. Last year the had DMB. Two years ago it was Bruce Springsteen. Aside from Eminem, who from this setlist is likely to enjoy a similar stature in 10-15 years? That's all I was saying. Compared to past years when they've had all time great acts there, this one falls a bit short. There will be some very popular and well acclaimed groups there, but no all timers, hence my flavor of the week comment.

Girl Talk is probably one of the most fun concerts I've ever been to. But I can't imagine him in a setting like Bonaroo

FYI -- Jay-Z brought the goods last year. Brought down the house (er...farm).

Totally believe that, he is one of the top performers in the world.

Big BOi is easily best hip hop artist this year. Em and Wanye are kind of parodies of themselves these days, but the ladies love them.

He's been there twice. Saw him in 07, it was pretty fun. That's pretty much the perfect setting for him, don't know why you'd think otherwise.

He was just in Knoxville at the Valarium actually, saw he was charging almost 40 bucks and laughed.

The Black Keys, The Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Bassnectar, Gorgol Bordello, Atmosphere, Superjam ft. Dan Auerbach and Dr. John, Wiz Khalifa, Matt & Kim, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Devotchka, Sleigh Bells, Neon Trees, and Global Gypsy Punk.

Those are my favorites on the list, how about everyone else? I'm seriously considering making the drive.

Them boys can flow.

Slug >>> Lil Wayne

It's really ridiculous how much talent there is between that Rhymesayers/Doomtree collection. It's crazy the amount of good music coming out of the whole twin cities area, especially given my preconceived notions of Minn.

Slug vs Lil Wayne isn't even really a fair comparison, they don't belong in the same category.

That's kind of the impression I had, not sure how much I'd like that. I'm sure it can be managed well enough but, as many acts that I do like, there are plenty that I really can't stand and wouldn't want to sit through, even if it were in the periphery.

I guess you haven't seen him in a club. 40 bucks is worth it.

This lineup may not be as good as one would expect for the 10th anniversary, but it's certainly better than last year's. It's long been a life goal of mine to see Neil Young perform, the Black Keys are sick, Atmosphere is the bomb, Robert Plant is Robert Plant. I will be purchasing my ticket on the 21st.

See you guys in the pit.

It's clear that you have no idea who 90% of the artists playing this year are.

No problem with them headlining. Couple solid records, and have been at the top of the bill at just about every festival in the world last few years.

not sure how Em and Wayne will translate to these huge outdoor venues. THey will probably have full bands, but it's not like they are the Beastie Boys.

There not the headliner Em is the headliner for the event

haven't seen the schedule, however i assume they will play on the main stage primetime one of the nights. I'm going to guess..... Saturday night, but don't know. You are right, Em will probably play Sunday night.

Actually, Kanye is unquestionably the best hip hop artist this year. The second best is probably B.o.B. And I love love love love OutKast, and I really liked Big Boi's album.

We'll have to agree to disagree about Em and Wayne. I'm actually not the biggest Wayne fan in the world, but his lyrical chops cannot be questioned.

I gotta feeling Em will play Saturday night. I bet Sunday night you'll Neil Young or Widespread.
