BP told the group "walk ons?" Told the three of them to come here and announced they earned scholarships. That's all I know.

I think it's pretty funny all you saying that McBee doesn't deserve a scholarship.

The team, and those close to it, know McBee is the best shooter on the team. Yes, he struggled at game time but he is a freaking FRESHMAN who walked on out of a TN high school basketball program.

There was another freshman who once walked on out of a TN high school basketball program in our recent history whose name is JuJuan Smith. Smith averaged 1.9 points (in average of 8 min pg) a game his freshman year while McBee has 3.4 (in average of 13 min pg).

McBee can have the same impact Smith had, he just needs time to mature.

If the scholly could have gone to a top 50 recruit, I would have chose the top 50 recruit, but it isn't so I see no problem with it going to McBee.

You're missing the point. That's one scholarship that could have been used on a future recruit who can actually play.

No it's not.....these kids deserve a year of free school for there effort. THESE scollys will be available next recruiting cycle. Relax Bro.........:clapping:

I don't know how to respond to this.

I think it's pretty funny that you just claimed McBee is on the same level as Jajuan. Now, that being said, he could go on to be the best player to ever grace the floor of TBA, but until that day comes, he isn't. Jajuan was also a great athlete and defensive player for the record, two things McBee is not.

wouldn't pearl get to go for free anyways, due to his father being an employee of the university. i thought that if a parent was an employee in the system that the children get to go for free. i could be wrong or misinformed. i had a buddy in high school whose mom was a professor at utc and i believe he got a free ride. may be different with a coach or there might have been a considerable discount in my friend's case. but i thought that if they were to attend a school in state that they got a free ride. either way i like pearl's hustle, but he would not be on this team if it were not for his father being the coach. surely cbp could fork over what money it took to educate his son, and find someone else that could help this team to give a scholly to.

Not that big of a deal to me. At the very least, I think all three help us on APR, which has been an issue the last few years. Hell, having McBee on scholarship might guarantee us a full allotment in the future even if I'm not sold on McBee as a contributor. Perhaps McBee has another poor season and needs to transfer to a lower level, he'll still keep us healthy in the APR.

I was thinking the same thing. According to this, it's not necessarily a complete free-ride:

But I may be reading it wrong.

As a fan of the game of basketball, watching McBell run around the court like a chicken with his head cutoff trying to play defense makes me want to vomit

nothing like effort to induce vomiting. look on the bright side. u guys can eat a chili dog and watch scotty hopson play at the same time with no worries!

No, it's having effort, yet still doing nothing productive.

Give Pearl Scotty Hopson's scholly and I bet Scotty would work harder on the court.

Pearl has always had a scholly. It has always been non-bball. He doesn't have a Bball scholly. They wouldn't waste a scholly on someone that can go to school for free already.

I lol'd. McBrick isn't 1/3 the player JaJuan was.

Professor's children only get 50% off of tution, but it may be different for him since its through the atheltic department.
