On VolInArizona's blog he says the following:

Tedford is generally heralded as God in Berkeley (which, in itself, is a freaking "does not compute" moment for me). Cal-Berkeley fans (1 dollar to Les Miles) continually assert that Tedford is one of the 10 best coaches in college football. One.of.the.10.best. Yeah, it pisses me off, too. He's done a good job with a dead program. Great, a lot of coaches have done that. However, it doesn't automatically put you in the upper echelon.

Show me another coach that has done this (posted on the cal board a couple of days ago):

From 2002-2007 Cal's winning % is 20th ranked for all D-1A teams
From 2004-2006 Cal's winning % is tied for 13th for all D-1A teams

Contrast the above numbers with where we were pre-JT.

From 1997-2001 Cal's winning % was 105th for all D-1A teams.
From 1999-2001 Cal's winning % was 109th for all D-1A teams.

if VIA said it - it is true... no arguement here.. plus that is a joke saying he's a top 10 coach.

I don't expect people to think he is a top-10 coach because of the lack of bcs games, but I don't think many coaches have done what he has.

No conf titles (1 shared) and no NYD bowls. Many coaches have done that.

I have more respect for Rich Brooks (kentucky) and about the same respect for Bobby Johnson (vandy) as I do Tedford. What Tedford has done is a great coaching job but what Rich Brooks has done is equally great or better being in the SEC imo.

Rich Brooks! The guy has ONE win over top-25 (and what 2 over top-50 opponents?) opponents in 3 years. And let's not forget that he was mediocre at best in the pac-10. Rich Brooks can't shine tedford's shoes.

This board, understandably, has a bias toward the SEC.

When Tedford takes a coaching job at Vandy or Miss St and does that he will earn respect.

Until then, he's just another coach in a weaker conference talking about how he's turned a program around.

Jeff Tedford should drop to his knees every night and thank God for Kirk Ferentz. The Head Hawkeye is the only man standing between Tedford and the title of Most Overrated College Football Coach Of The Last Decade.

I see so a coach who didn't succeed at the pac-10, can go do nothing at kentucky, and get respect. Makes sense to me.

A lot of good coaches aren't able to turn a program around at one school but when they get a new coaching position they succeed.

Yeah, Brooks failed so miserably in the PAC 10 that he got an NFL head coaching job.

compared to rich brooks at oregon, jeff tedford at Cal is the greatest coach in pac-10 history.

Kentucky came a lot closer to beating UT last year then Cal did. Bottom line, that's what people remember.
