Ainge will get a week off. He's coming back to town next week... Ima see if I can hang out with him a bit. I'll see what's up. But, it didn't seem as bad as it did initially. Hopefully he can get back in against Vandy, maybe Kentucky and keep it up for the SECCG.

VOLS SUCK/ GAME OVER

:shakehead: :shakehead: :shakehead:

Cmon dude. What do you expect with a #3 QB against a good Notre Dame defense. The good news is that we still have the inside track to the SECCG. And we have two off weeks to get Ainge ready for Kentucky :D

Even though the coaches failed to get the team up for this game (as in out of bed this morning!), we lost Ainge for who knows how long, we are in some strange Bizarro world where we are haunted by Clausens, and our offense line was non-existent for most of the game, we can still get to a B_S bowl game by beating Auburn in Atlanta...so all is not lost.

Its funny how many of you are trying to pin Ainges injury on he coaches. If he had thrown a td bomb to take the Vols into the locker room with the lead, many of you would be praising the "great call".

If you want to pin the loss on someone, pin it on the O-line. They got beaten like stepchildren ALL NIGHT. Three man rushes against our O-line should NEVER result in a sack, ever. ND came to play, their defense forced a bonehead turnover and they stuffed our offense when they had to.

While I agree we "probably" could have won with Ainge, we didn't. ND did just enough to squeek out a win in our house and must be congratulated. Blaming coaches for a freak injury is bad form.

At least this loss saves us from a BCS nightmare, we were the worst 7-1 team in the nation. With Ainge and Shaff gone Auburn will smoke us too. We wouldn't be playing Georgia again idiot. The only two teams we've soundly beaten are UNLV, LA TECH and SC. The rest of the games we were fortunate to win. I'm not saying we suck this is just not or year. Next year will be much better. 9-3 is not bad with freshman QB's and any year beating FLA, GA, and BAMA is good. Just be realistic we have no business in a BCS bowl this year so go to a lesser bowl and get a win and momentum towards 2005.

You're an idiot. We beat 7-1 UGA in Athens.

I agree the play call was bad, but the play call did not cause Ainge to go down on his shoulder. The coaches did not call a bad snap. The coaches did not call for Ainge to pick up the ball and run on the last play of the half, so close to his own endzone. Players are responsible for their own poor execution.

Coaches blew it by getting Ainge injured.

O-line did not help AT ALL

Clausen played well considering...

OH WELL! Hopefully AInge is back by SECCG

Ok, the last play of the first half had two things wrong with it. One, there was a VERY small chance of a touchdown on that play. Getting a touchdown from our 25 yard line with only 5 seconds isn't going to happen. If they were planning on a field goal why did they run on first and why not call a timeout? Like I said, bonehead call.

Second reason...Tennessee had the momentum going into the locker room. Ainge getting hurt took every bit of momentum we had. Did you see the look on CPF face during the interview right after Ainge got hurt? He looked very disturbed, as well as he should have been. He looked like he just saw saw a ghost! So why call such a high risk play? A passing play with 5 seconds left before half, on our own 25, nothing positive could ever happen. I blame Sanders, he's the one who called that BONEHEAD play. If you don't agree, so be it.

I'll go along with you on that point - while I don't think you can really blame the coaches for a freak injury, the play call made no sense at all.

So where do you think that dumb-ass play came from?It came from somebody. He never should have been in a shot-gun position.Take a knee and Ainge would come out in the second half.S--t happens, but that should have never went down that way.

I'll just say this:

Nobody is responsible for getting Ainge injured. Injuries happen, nobody has any control over them at any time. I will, however, blame Sanders for calling a stupid play. Knee should have been put down, for sure.

Bonehead playcall for sure! I blame Sanders for being an incompetent OC who ought to find another job, but if Ainge would have just fell on the ball, then he wouldn't have a separated shoulder. Why not blame Prugh? Didn't his bonehead snap cause the broken play?

I dislike Sanders very much, but I can't blame him for Ainge's separated shoulder.

I'll say it for the third time in this thread - From a strategy standpoint, the play call made no sense after running a draw the play before.

But I'm not going to blame a coach's play call when a player gets injured after a bad snap.

Randy Sanders :moon2: needs to be fired! Once again he has cost the vols and there fans a season of being on top. We were out coached in the Auburn game and now one stupid play call before the half has cost the vols a chance at the big one...Its over my fellow fans....Clausen is just as embarrassing to watch as his brother was. Will see everyone next year.

I was kinda surprised when I read this:

"Fulmer said he wanted to run a draw play on first down and then try to hit a big pass play on second down."

From the Tennessean: http://tennessean.com/sports/ut/archives/0...ent_ID=61117842

I'd still love to see CRS get the boot though!!! :bad:

Nah, I think Phil is taking the heat for him. If you read into it, it looks like RS "saw" something in the defense to call a draw then a deep pass. How'd that work out, Randy?

I dont know if you guys have heard Ainge will be out until spring. :disappointed:
And also on cbssportsline.com the player that hit him said "You dont just hit people
to tackle them. You hit them so they dont get back up. I say respectfully." :finger:
