Bonehead play call

I am stunned... You guys are acting like bammers. Calling for heads to roll as we prepare to take our team to the SECCG all the while being led by FRESHMEN quaterbacks. Why don't you guys sit back and reflect on the big picture. We have been escaping ALL YEAR and are extremely lucky to be where we are. Yeah, I said lucky.

Clausen played well considering...

Were you watching the same game I was?

Absolutely. The kid had never taken a college snap. So he threw an interception, bug deal. Yes it was a HUGE interception, and yes it sucks that it was an interception taken back for a TD. But he also made some good passes and showed some potential considering the situation he was in.

Honestly, I'd take a loss in the SEC Championship game if it meant getting rid of Sanders. He's held us back for years.

I agree this board is starting to bring me down....Tennessee football is about tradition we can't always have a undefeated season....I personally am proud that we have done as well has we have. I have been to every home game this year expect the Auburn game and have enjoyed every moment. Loving the Vols whether they win or loose...proud to be wearing my orange. I will be wearing on Monday as well as any other day.

Let's face it none of us are happy about what happened. But the fact remains that someone is going to have to step up. The receivers are going to have to step up in order for Clausen to play well. The guy knows the offense, but lacks the arm strength. If he has his brother's determination, they can get the job done. The fact is that the line, the backs and the receivers are going to have to help him out. And our defense is going to have to continue to play well, if not exceptional. We can piss and moan about the call all we want, but now we have to deal.

Are you seriously that tunnel visioned? Man you would fit right in down there in Tuscaloosa. Oh and by the way, here's how Sanders held us back over the years:

Scoring Offense

2001 UT 355 (ppg 29.6) - OPP 234 (ppg 19.5)
2002 UT 296 (ppg 22.8) - OPP 227 (ppg 17.5)
2003 UT 365 (ppg 28.1) - OPP 239 (ppg 18.4)

Just out of curiousity, who would you have as OC?

everybody that is bitch'n about the last call of the half was praising the same coaches that called the screen that went 4 a TD....let it rest we got the bad end of the luck today and they will regroup we still have a shot at the SEC champ...and who honestly thought we had a snowball's chance in hades of that back in SEPT?

That's actually not true. He played in 3 games while at LSU.

There are plenty of dedicated fans that unconditionally love the Vols on this board but lately many have shown their true colors.

Are these guys bama fans, if not, you can have them!

dan4vols- "VOLS SUCK/ GAME OVER"

SUPERVOL33-At least this loss saves us from a BCS nightmare, we were the worst 7-1 team in the nation. With Ainge and Shaff gone Auburn will smoke us too. We wouldn't be playing Georgia again idiot. The only two teams we've soundly beaten are UNLV, LA TECH and SC. The rest of the games we were fortunate to win. I'm not saying we suck this is just not or year. Next year will be much better. 9-3 is not bad with freshman QB's and any year beating FLA, GA, and BAMA is good. Just be realistic we have no business in a BCS bowl this year so go to a lesser bowl and get a win and momentum towards 2005.

teeterman-Randy Sanders needs to be fired! Once again he has cost the vols and there fans a season of being on top. We were out coached in the Auburn game and now one stupid play call before the half has cost the vols a chance at the big one...Its over my fellow fans....Clausen is just as embarrassing to watch as his brother was. Will see everyone next year.

Z06Vol- Honestly, I'd take a loss in the SEC Championship game if it meant getting rid of Sanders. He's held us back for years

As far as Erik's injury he was interviewed at the hospital last night and said it was his decision to go in the shotgun formation. He was supposed to be under center.

Has anybody mentioned the reserve center. I'm not blaming him but he had two horrendous shotgun snaps that really hurt. I kept wondering in the first half why weren't in the shotgun when Ainge was getting pressured and I guess we found out why.

I was talking to someone Saturday morning saying that I was worried because I knew ND would have some big physical noseguard to take advantage of him. Knowing that he was from Maryville through up a big flag for me. We have tried occasionally to get local OL but they usually don't pan out except for Howard from Oak Ridge and Mcrae from Clinton. There's probably a few other but that's all I came up with off the top of my head.

Mark one more person down who is trying to take blame.....besides Sanders.

Man I hope he heals quickly.

Nobody has mentioned that Prugh, the backup center that started, was the player that almost died last year from a viral infection. He was lucky to live, much less play football again.

Freak I'm beginning to see what you mean. This is odd.

Hard to believe a freshman would change the formation . . .

my :twocents: there is plenty of "blame" to go around on that play, but if they had scored everybody would be heros for my part this is history and its time to move on

I don't mean to sound like I am harping on that play. I am not. These things are going to happen and there is not much you can do about it. If you asked me at the time I probably would have been all for taking a shot down the field. So it's not the play for me that's the problem. But now you have an 18 year old kid in the hospital trying to take the blame..... meanwhile CRS is off hiding behind Coach Fulmer. I just think if he ever wants to earn the fans and the teams respect he needs to step up to the plate and take one for the team every once in a while. Unless Fulmer made the decision. But right now you have Fulmer saying it was Sanders idea and that he went along with it, you have Sanders saying it was all Fulmers fault, and now you have Ainge saying it was his fault.

Again, don't get me wrong. I'm not out to get Sanders and I think he did a very good job with 2 young qb's this year. I also think he did well calling the plays in to the QB's from the sideline.

Have you been hiding under a rock for the past 6 years? Sanders gets paid good money and some of this money comes directly from my pocket. He continually has top 5 recruits and he continually has a below average offenses. What do you not get? Always got the Sanders bootylicks everywhere you go!

My comment was that it was reported on the news by a reporter... But also heard Jimmy Hyams of sports talk 990 Say he heard the same thing and was going to try to confirm the comment..

Rember all in all One play does not lose a game, Injuries happen with as much pressure as the ND line was getting it could of happened anytime during a game.

Also, I'd rather have a National Championship, SECC is just secondary. CPF always says he's playing for the SECC but we all know it the NC he's after, and it should be. It's the same with any sport. For instance.....I'm a Denver Bronco fan, I expect them to contend for the SB not just the division. OrangeCrush18 you ok with average? I'm not!

I think it's just a matter of keeping everyone focused. Of course you play for a Nat'l title every year, but a lot of times due to the sheer number of teams, inequity of the polls, luck, etc., getting into the BCS championship game involves things that are beyond your control. (See USC last year.)

The SEC on the other hand is right in front of you every year and you always know exactly what you need to do to win it. It makes sense to play for the SEC and let the chips fall where they may for everything else.
