Bonnaroo 2013

They will def be Saturday. My guess is back to back on the main stage.

Tom Petty will probably headline Friday if I had to guess.

Just my opinion, but I don't think there's any chance Mumford opens for Paul. I think Mumford is the closer of the What Stage on Friday night. But they did have Stevie and Jay Z back-to-back a couple of years ago, but I wouldn't say they line up their top 2 back to back.

And 36 definitely isn't too old, unless you can't pace yourself.

There are very few hippies at Bonnaroo. I don't know about hipsters, but it's mostly your average drunk college kids.

Last bunch of tickets go on sale tomorrow, and they usually sell out fast.

Thrash, not picking on you, but Roo doesn't sell out fast. IIRC, it was announced as a sell out just before the festival kicked off in June the last few years. Sorry, not trying to be argumentative. Last year's ticket sales were a nightmare though because the website couldn't handle the traffic. In fact, they had to delay ticket sales a week or two because the MusicToday servers crashed.

Also, just saw someone said Macca was confirmed for Friday. Where did you see that?

I've never had anything stolen. Also, Bonnaroo is the friendliest 85,000 you'll ever find. I've yet to see a fight and I've been to 8 Roos.

I've never witnessed any violence, but I'm sure it happens. It's definitely not common, though.

As far as valuables, you camp right behind your car, so you lock all your goodies in your car. I've never had anything stolen.

Thanks guys... I appreciate the information. :hi:

Maybe, but they weren't even on What stage in 2011. They were on Which stage, and it was retarded. Couldn't even hear them. So I wasn't getting my hopes up that they would headline any night on What stage. I wouldn't really say they would be "opening" for Paul. It's more like two headliners.

I've only been once. I just seemed to remember always thinking about going but tickets would sell out before I could make up my mind and then I'd just give up. I never looked for secondhand tickets or anything.

It was confirmed to me by someone who works on Macca's tour. He said he was playing Friday night. I looked around and other credible sources say the same thing.

Listening to Pretty Lights this morning makes me want to go back to Bonnaroo. PL and Sleigh Bells were so much fun.

The lineup is good this year. It's been better, but Paul McCartney, Billy Idol, Lumineers, Passion Pit, Walk the Moon!!!!, Of Monsters & Men, Foals, The XX, Cults, Portugal. The Man, Mumford, Edward Sharpe, and Tom Petty...

I'm kinda regretting not going this year.

Old man, or just boring?

If you saw me walking down the street, you'd probably think I was part of the Bonnaroo street team. I just hate the vast majority of acts they bring. They always have a few really spectacular acts that would be worth seeing, but it's so diluted with hipster and indie BS, I just can't stand it.

But I wouldn't say I'm old. I think it's extremely overrated (for the most part), and I just hate all this hipster/indie stuff, which is pretty much the epitome of Bonnaroo.

And these are some of my most hated musical genres:
Classic rock
Indie rock
House/jam bands

I love the "hipster/indie" stuff AKA alternative

I think your problem is that you're too big a hipster to admit that you like "hipster" music. A lot of people fall into this trap. No offense, but your comment came off in a kinda "get off my lawn" manner. If you don't like it, that's cool. No need to come in the thread just to bash it.

What kind of music do you listen to?

How many people does Bonnaroo bring in every year? Yeah, I don't think my b****ing about it is gonna hurt anyone.

I'm more of a Warped Tour fan. I'm in to all the newer progressive rock, metal, post-hardcore stuff. Some of my favorites:
Between The Buried And Me
Circa Survive (have played Bonnaroo before)
A Lot Like Birds
Hail The Sun

Pretty much any band that has talented musicians and creative musical integrity. Every band that plays at Bonnaroo has talented musicians and popular music, but that doesn't make the music any good if you're just gonna play 3-6 chords and flat vocal line.

The owner of my workplace has Of Monsters and Men, Iron and Wine, etc. on the playlist, and it literally all sounds the same.

There are a few good bands in the category, I guess, but this hipster artsy acoustic bullcrap has gone way too far and is almost as bad as the massive wall of sound revival in top 40 music.

I would agree for the most part. I'm not a fan of groups like Mumford or the Lumineers.

I do, however, appreciate some of the smaller acts because I genuinely think their music is good; Lord Huron and alt-j are two good examples for me personally.

Everybody feels this way about genres that they don't like and don't listen to... It doesn't make it true.

Except I do listen to them because I don't have a choice. Stylistically the popular new genre of acousticy indie music is about as diverse as a KKK meeting.

If you're going to be at Roo on Thursday, GO SEE twenty one pilots! They blew me away three weeks ago.

Thursday is the best day at Roo for me. So many great new acts playing, so many conflicts.

Two days.

Almost went this year. If you know anything about where my username comes from Earl Sweatshirt will be there. Also I would have caught a classic band or two and maybe some electronica. There are a lot of good performers this year...
