Border Wall Thread (Merged)

Link? Any walls that are 2,000 miles long? Do their border hoppers wanna get there half as much as Mexicans and Central Americans want to get here?

The wall, if it ever gets built, will not be the whole damn 2000 border. It has never, ever been intended to be that. Yea yea bu bu bu bu Trump said ... yada yada.

Go find what the president of the Border Patrol union who traveled with Trump and had lots of discussions with him has to say about it.

The wall is classic political rhetoric. The issue polled well. The phrase was focus grouped. If you bought that a 20 foot high, 2,000 mile wall was going to get built, your emotions just got played.

It's that simple for me: he either builds the wall or I'll become one of his most vocal opponents. That is the defining issue for me, everything else is secondary.

If 29 suspects can break out of a damn prison through a 120 ft long tunnel you'd be crazy to believe that a 200 foot wall, with electrified barbed wired, gun turrets is going to be even a mild inconvenience.

It boggles my mind that people believe that a big ole' fence is going to make them suddenly say "oh noes a fence 300 miles from no where, i could climb it but nah I'll just forgo my dreams of a better life."

If you actually thought:

A. He was going to build a wall

Or

B. A wall would actually stop anything.

I'm sorry for you.

The wall in Israel and the DMZ zone in the Korean peninsula has worked well. I think the wall would signal "there is an actual border here". Combined with deportations (Illegals already down 70% this year), I think several problems, from drugs, crime, or jobs, would be solved or helped greatly.

But I mainly love a wall though because it is finite. Once it's built, it's there. It's one thing they can't take away from us.

What was focus grouped? Id be shocked if anything Trump said in his campaign was focused grouped

The way Trump described the wall was utterly ridiculous to any adult with at least an average IQ. He pandered to people that either couldn't or wouldn't use logic to realize the Mexican government wasn't to to pay for this enormous project.

In short, if you believed his speeches - you're a moron. In fact, you're no better than the people that thought Obamacare would be a success and lower cost for everyone.

As I recall China did ok with a wall they built. And their border hoppers were more interested in slitting their throats than cutting their grass.

That was a thousand years ago.

If you want a slightly more recent example of the futility of a wall, google "Maginot Line".

Well now hold the phone. The SJW are blaming the US goverment for the increase in migrant deaths because fences and patrols are forcing them into the Sonora and other relatively inhospitable places. So clearly making it more difficult and dangerous reduces how many people are willing to risk it.

They take Social Security from us, they steal from our children, but I don't see them taking a wall apart brick by brick because the parts will be useless. Thus, having an unmovable wall that is permanent means a lot to me cause I know it's mine and my kids for good.

Just one conversation on this board not to devolve to someone calling me an idiot for my politics would be great.

I'm not alone btw. You're calling people morons that are not stupid, at all.

Anyone that believed his wall speeches to be truthful has below average intelligence. The truth will be seen over time. Someone's opinion on politics is not as important as facts.

Not calling you anything but I have to agree that people who really believed a physical wall would be built were not using their common sense. It was just to play on peoples emotions and help him get elected. Don't get me wrong 1 less Trump supporter is great so if that's what turns you off then good, but that wall was never being built.

Ya man, Ann Coulter is definitely below average intelligence. Stop generalizing. I was hopeful, still kinda am, because it's the only reason he was elected. Thus, I'm hoping it's not all hot air.

I dont really care about the wall either way, but i will say this....if they deported all the illegals therw would be a serious financial crisis. Similar to 08...bc nearly all construction workers now are amigos. All 85 guys on my job are besides me. Among the other trades, the big boss for each trade is white 2 times out of 3...other is amigo...and there are a very very few white electricians, white plumbers. The only black guys i ever see on my job are installing insulation. There is absolutely zero exaggeration or dishonesty in my post. I am not happy about this, i wish there were more whites and blacks out here. There arent. 200 people on my job every day, 185 to 190 of them ar3 amigos. Period. There is also a serious lack of houses in many markets. All the areas around charlotte are this way. My wife is a realtor. It sucks. Great time to sell, if you had the money to build a new one. A house that is worth 150k sells for 165 to 170k here, and most have several offers the very first day they are listed. I am not stupid. I know this makes a bubble, bc the houses arent worth 2hat they are selling for. There are simply very very few american kids that are learning trades anymore...carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, hvac, you name it. I cant speak for the entire country, but the carolinas and knoxville are this way. Deport them all and construction would nearly stop, and those who remained would charge insane price due to demand. The ill3gals here who have overstayed their visas etc. But have never been in any troible here need a path to citizenship. We have got to get them payong taxes like we do before the strain on the system from them being here wrecks it all. I am actually overjoyed on the very rare occasion that i see a 18 or 19 year old American kid working his butt off to learn a trade. We are going to be im bad shape in a generation if they dont.
