Border Wall Thread (Merged)

I like the concept. Is that really him slinging bricks? If so, he has my vote next time.

Who was the only candidate that made immigration the top priority of their campaign? Who won the presidency?

You take exception for being mocked for single issue voting, especially on this retarded promise?

And your response is to yell "scoreboard"?

The white house is a dumpster fire, it's not even debatable. This clown is firing his staff because of his inability to form a cogent message, he's struggling to get Obamacare repealed, his version of tax reform is a non starter, his budget is being used as toilet paper on the hill and you're yelling scoreboard? LOL.

If you think the wall is a priority for him, you haven't been paying attention to his tweets to Rosie or the number of rounds of golf he's played.

Link? Any walls that are 2,000 miles long? Do their border hoppers wanna get there half as much as Mexicans and Central Americans want to get here?

I didn't see anyone else reply so I thought I'd have a go at it.

Physical barriers have historically limited movement. Rivers and mountain ranges continue to be an obstacle in the world. These barriers restricted exploration and trade in the past. Presently, with the assist of engineering and machines these obstacles are barely an afterthought for industrialized people.

Walls can be effective even in industrialized communities. Rather than prevent movement INTO another place, barriers are more commonly used to prevent movement FROM certain places. A gruesome, albeit effective, example was the Berlin Wall erected by Russia. East Berliners were desperate to get to West Berlin. I recall images of people running through barbed wire and getting hung among the sharp barbs in the Wall's early stages. The use of machine guns on those unfortunate to get over the eastern portion of the double wall was a considerable deterrent. The wall divided a city, families, and ideologies for decades.

I doubt American politicians would neither build a proper wall, nor manage it effectively. Americans would almost assuredly find machine gunning immigrants a repulsive measure. But a claim saying walls aren't effective or practical has little historical merit.

If it were up to Trump, construction would be underway. Unfortunately he has to contend with Demotards and Republitards on the Hill. Both of whom hate him

I'm not yelling scoreboard. I just don't think it's a coincidence that Trump advocated loudly to fix immigration and for a wall, and he beat out 18 republicans and a candidate everyone else saw as unbeatable.

And yes, if you had a member of your family in Texas sexually assaulted by an illegal immigrant this would be a big issue for you. But please, continue to call me an idiot and generalize the intelligence of anyone else that's concerned about safety from undocumented individuals, but I'm willing to bet you've never been personally affected as I have.

When they think you aren't smart, your opinion doesn't matter. They look down on conservatives. They are dismissive because it's their way or the highway.

The wall in Israel and the DMZ zone in the Korean peninsula has worked well. I think the wall would signal "there is an actual border here". Combined with deportations (Illegals already down 70% this year), I think several problems, from drugs, crime, or jobs, would be solved or helped greatly.

But I mainly love a wall though because it is finite. Once it's built, it's there. It's one thing they can't take away from us.

Jesus.

Doesn't have anything to do with the millions of landmines or North Korean soldiers shooting their citizens trying to leave and sending three generations of their family members to concentration camps.

If you switch out "illegal immigrant" with "gun" and "sexually assaulted" with "killed", you have the gun control argument.

He's not fixing a damn thing, it's business as usual. Let's not kid ourselves.

He won because clinton was a terrible candidate who as it turns out, is not nearly as good a liar as trump. Ironic.

He wrote checks with his mouth that not even a republican legislature is willing to cash. Think about that.

His priority was suppose to be jobs and the blue collar working class and infrastructure. He hasn't mentioned any of that in two months. He has been very enthusiastic about giving himself a big tax break though.

He won because we always elect personalities, and Hillary had none. Obama had a personality, and McCain and Romney didn't. Bush II had one, and neither Gore nor Kerry did.

Clinton had one and Dole didn't. Clinton had more than Bush I, who 4 years earlier had more than Dukakis, who had none. Reagan had one, and Mondale didn't. Reagan also had more personality than Carter, who had more of one than Ford. There is a pattern here. Hillary is not likeable on any level by most people.

Reread it.

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Hmmm...still looking

That's it...SCV for President 2020!!!!!!

Small update:

One of the review points the current working group is addressing today on the healthcare bill is how to fund the medicaid gap, since the money allotted in the House bill doesn't appear to be enough. One Senator has suggested taking the "Wall money" and applying it to AHCA.

“The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan claimed 17,000 and 16,000 lives respectively in 2016, although in lethality they were surpassed by conflicts in Mexico and Central America, which have received much less attention from the media and the international community,” said Anastasia Voronkova, the editor of the survey.

Voronkova said the number of homicides rose in 22 of Mexico's 32 states during 2016 and the rivalries between cartels increased in violence.

“It is noteworthy that the largest rises in fatalities were registered in states that were key battlegrounds for control between competing, increasingly fragmented cartels,” she said.

“The violence grew worse as the cartels expanded the territorial reach of their campaigns, seeking to 'cleanse' areas of rivals in their efforts to secure a monopoly on drug-trafficking routes and other criminal assets.”

Isn't there a wall or fence around the White House?

It seems to work ok....

It works great against people who have no intention of breaching the wall and who are willing to undergo the security procedures required to be let inside.
