Bowl Game Possibility

Left out
Nine teams were bowl-eligible but did not receive an invitation to a bowl.

Western Kentucky had the best record to be left out at 8-4. Four other 6-6 Sun Belt teams were also left out: Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama, Troy, and Texas State.

Toledo was left out with a 7-5 record, and fellow MAC team Central Michigan (6-6) also missed out.

San Jose State and Florida Atlantic also did not receive bowl bids despite being bowl-eligible at 6-6.

Why would u want to talk football with people that have the same view points as yourself? It leads to a boring conversation. I don't go on Vandy message boards for that very reason. The Vols weren't a good team this year so why should they get rewarded with a bowl game?

As if all of Volnation shares the same viewpoint... For a Vandy guy, your reading comprehension sucks.

Western Kentucky should be pissed! They had a strong record, and only won one less SEC game than we did!

And as far as I can tell, South Alabama was the only team coming into last Saturday that wasn't 6-6 yet.

So again, knowing all that means it's really silly to think Jones was telling the team there was a shot at a bowl.

In basketball there is a tournament set up for those who don't receive either an NCAA or NIT bid...it is legit but doesn't get much coverage...however even to receive a bid to that you must have a winning record. If any player is spouting this my reply to them would be, "Now if you had just held on to beat either GA or Peabody"...

This is more legit than y'all think. There is already a thread on this and they were discussing it on the Erik Ainge show the other day. If there aren't enough teams to fill the bowls that are allotted for SEC teams, the bowl can make the decision to either take a 6-6 team from another conference or a 5-7 team from the SEC. This was allowed as of August 2012.

As of right now we would be a likely 5-7 team to go. Especially since it's all about the money and Tennessee can sell out a stadium.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm worn out, uninterested in a bowl in Lower Slobovia with what this team has been through this season. Get a shovel, throw dirt on it, go on to next year. Mercy.

I thought the other thread about UT going to a bowl game was stupid.

You all have surpassed that level of idiocy and stupidity. Well Done.

UT never had a realistic chance of even a lower level game, and anyone who says they have insider information is an outright liar.
