The very fact someone questions me being a fan over a rule is in itself childish.
As far as the rest of the list, how exactly does one point out that people that keep repeating this are wrong? Do you want me to cuddle you, break it to you gently, hold your hand and tell you everything is going to be ok? You're basically pissed because you say I'm raining on your parade, when it was a stupid parade to begin with that never had a shot at being true.
I do not believe we go to any bowl, but last year, a 9-3 La Tech team did not go to a bowl while a 5-7 Ga Tech did. The story was that La Tech got offered, but turned it down but they say they didn't and asked for more time to see of they would get other opportunities.
At no point have I said you were wrong. The way you are coming across is wrong. Go back and read my responses to you, they are calling your approach out, not your argument.
And to answer your question No, you I to not want you to cuddle me, but you certainly can if you want to. Just for funnsies though, not because we arent going to a bowl game.
Actually, that Georgia Tech team was 6-7 because they went 6-6 and lost the ACC title game. If a similar situation were to happen this year, that 6-7 team would have to be selected over a 5-7 team.
The conference tie-ins become irrelevant after all the 6-6 or better teams in the conference are selected. The bowl then has to pick an at-large team according to the selection criteria that ends with 5-7 teams. So Tennessee is not a part of the SEC bowl tie-in this year, and won't get a chance to be an at-large pick.
so technically a 5-7 team can go to a bowl but the circumstances are very rare....have to have a top 5 APR and no bowl eligible teams left. there are 70 bowl slots and currently 78 eligible teams, so sounds impossible this year from how i am reading it.

This is more legit than y'all think. There is already a thread on this and they were discussing it on the Erik Ainge show the other day. If there aren't enough teams to fill the bowls that are allotted for SEC teams, the bowl can make the decision to either take a 6-6 team from another conference or a 5-7 team from the SEC. This was allowed as of August 2012.
As of right now we would be a likely 5-7 team to go. Especially since it's all about the money and Tennessee can sell out a stadium.
No team with a losing record deserves a bowl weather it's allowed or not!
