Bowl possibilities (Merged)

My feeling is, a win against 11-1 Wisconsin would have UT finishing in the top 15, probably the highest rated 10-3 team in the nation.

On the other hand beating PSU, probably wouldn't have an impact on polls or opinion.

I do not think Wisconsin is unbeatable. UT and the SEC in general has done very well against the Big 10.

...looks like we may play our next game in Atlanta nonetheless. Forgive me if I overlooked another thread that may've already mentioned this, but I noticed USA Today's tentative bowl schedule today (pending official announcement on Sunday), and if correct, we will play VA Tech in the Chick fil A. This is not a bad match for us; they are 10-2, and an impressive win would be a nice springboard into next season. Personally, I would've preferred Penn State because we obviously have something to prove to that program, but VA Tech would be nice too. I may be a little biased because I live in Richmond, and this area is eaten up with VA Tech - everywhere you look! - and I would really enjoy sporting my bright, bright Orange around here for the next month :birgits_giggle: and making sure everyone hears my Rocky Top ringtone everytime it goes off!
Anyway, have you guys heard a more likely scenario, and what do you think of this matchup?

We either play PSU in the Outback or Wisconsin in the Cap One bowl. Outside slim shot at Cotton, but no Chicken Bowl for us now.

What I mentioned is current as of today's paper. What are you basing your info on? link?

Here is the deal ... LSU has accepted BCS bid to rose bowl so if that works out:

Tennessee to CapOne to play Wisconsin (because CapOne guys don't want any of Arky)

Arky to Cotton

Auburn to Outback

I am pretty sure that worst case scenario, we end up in the Outback. If we end up in the Peach Bowl, watch on the news for me ... I will be the guy that jumped off the AmSouth building in Birmingham

ok, educate me. What is USA Today basing this projection on? Surely something other than a 1% chance!

I think the only way that ends up happening is if somehow LSU didn't get a BCS bid contrary to what is being widely reported.

Look.

SEC CG winner makes the BCS.

There are reports that LSU has already been invited to the Rose Bowl.

That leaves the loser of the SECG. (2 loss Florida or three loss Arkansas)

Auburn 10-2
Tennessee 9-3
Georgia 8-4

There is the Capitol One Bowl, the Outback Bowl, and the Cotton Bowl that pick before the Chik-Fil-A Bowl.

Where did they have LSU and Georgia in their projections? I'm guessing they had LSU in the Cap One or the Cotton. That's incorrect.

That's what they were basing Tennessee to Chik-Fil-A on. They are about three days behind on the news.

I've said for a week that Tennessee was Capitol One if Florida wins the SEC CG and Outback if Arkansas wins. Mike Hamilton said the same thing in papers across the country today.

yeah, I just went there myself and saw the same thing; I did see this in the physical paper, however. A couple of their projections have shuffled in a short time. Sorry - looks like I'm a little behind. We should be looking pretty good against PSU, don't you think? They played Michigan tough, but otherwise, they look pretty mediocre at 8-4, I'd say. Hope we can steamroll'em!

chicken bowl wants UGA. cotton wants ark/tx. that leaves the cap one and the outback. i'd imagine the outback cause auburn has a better record and the cap one has a bigger pay out.

Cotton has said they will take the Big 12 Championship Game loser which will be Nebraska or Oklahoma.

Auburn has played Wisconsin two out of the last 3-4 years, including last year's Capitol One Bowl which brought in 20,000 less fans than the bowl's previous several years. There is a VERY low chance the Capitol One takes Auburn.

If Florida wins, Tennessee to Capitol One.

If Arkansas wins, Tennessee to Outback or Cotton, most likely the Outback.

I think we can hold our own against either. Would be cool to be in the Capital One. Would be better to get revenge for the old loss against Penn State though.

I saw in the paper yesterday that Mike Hamilton said we will be in the state of Florida for the bowl season. He said that if Florida wins the SEC we are off to the Capital One bowl. If Arkansas wins the SEC we are off the Outback Bowl.

As far as Auburn going to the Capital One bow.....It's more than likely they will not go because it would be the same match up as last year...Auburn/Wisconsin. Auburn is almost a sure lock for the Cotton Bowl and if Arkansas gets beat, they COULD fall to the outback bowl and Arkansas go to the Cotton...I think that's what will happen
