Bowl possibilities (Merged)

Latest Bowl predictions I've seen have UT and Nebraska matched up in the Cotton provided they lose to Oklahoma on the conference title game.

I personally love the idea of going to the Outback. It'll be refreshing I think to go to a differant bowl for a change. I'm tired of going to the Chick Fila bowl. There's something about that game that puts a bad taste in my mouth when I think of going there again. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Outback considered a small step above the Chick Fila. I mean its a New Years Day bowl and doesn't it have a bigger pay off. I love the idea of gong to that game. By the way, where is the Outback bowl played?

If Nebraska loses and adds their fourth loss, the Cotton will take three loss Texas. If Nebraska wins, I suspect the Cotton will take Oklahoma.

IMO UT has nothing to gain by beating an unranked, weak Penn State team in the Outback. The same Outback Bowl that passed on UT a couple of years ago.

Again, if you pass on the Outback you can play no. 15 Virginia Tech in the Chick-Fillet Bowl, a much better team and a team ranked higher then UT.

There is something to gain by beating a team ranked higher then you. Play a team like PSU everyone expects you to win, you gain nothing by beating them, lose and you almost drop out of the polls all together.

Since you are so worried about rankings, you should be pulling for Florida to win the SEC CG.

If they do, Tennessee will play the number 7 team in the BCS, Wisconsin in the Capitol One Bowl.

It's not as simple as Tennessee simply declining the Outback bid if they are asked. The Chik-Fil-A would have to ask for the Vols too and they are on record as saying they want an 8-4 Georgia there. Georgia hasn't played in that bowl since the 90's and Tennessee has been there 2 of the last 4 years.

Teams play in the most prestigious bowl offered. I really don't understand this logic, although I have seen it offered several times. I

If the best bowl to offer UT is the Outback, we will take it, and not decline in favor of the Chicken so that we can hope to play a higher ranked team.

Mike Hamilton says "Show me the Money!" .........the Vols will go to the highest paying bowl offered. Bet the farm on that one!

The bowl system stinks. By all rights the SEC should have 3 teams in BCS bowls and UT should go no worse then the Cotton.

Of course they will. Teams always do.

Just substitute "higest paying" for "prestigious" in my previous post, and it still holds true.

Is there any chance of us not gettin a new years day bowl... i mean i think i know its a real slim chance... but is there a chance only one team from the sec makes thebcs/??

I think the SEC is a lock to get two in. LSU is ranked too high in the BCS to not get picked as an at-large, I think. And, if Arkansas wins on Saturday, Florida would still be an at-large candidate. If UF wins, I think it's UF and LSU. If Arkansas wins, I think the Orange Bowl will take Florida if another bowl hasn't already taken LSU. We're not allowed to have more than two teams in the BCS.

Just got off a plane from Atlanta to Orlando at 1:30pm. There were two Auburn reps sitting in first class. They had on their Auburn shirt and bag tags with Auburn - Capital One big enough for Mr. Magoo to see it.

Hhmmm.....

Auburn deserved a BCS bid IMO. Boise St and ND receiving a BCS bid over Auburn is a travesty.

They have been screwed royally by the BCS twice. Thats twice to many.
