Bowl Selection Sunday Thread

Both teams will likely suffer from player opt-out itis
I wouldn't be surprised if FSU announces about 2-3 days before the game they simply aren't participating in it. This way they get the extra practices. If I was a FSU fan, I would also boycott the game. There's no way I would spend my hard-earned money to support this travesty of a decision by the committee. It would serve the CFP committee and the NCAA right.

Both fan bases are mad about not having a chance at a natty and I think it would be funny if they both agreed to starting their 2nd/3rd string teams in the first half and see how that goes. Neither school needs the bowl money anyway and it would be a not so subtle protest of the selection committee's choices.

I feel bad for FSU. Less bad for UGA because they already have back to back championships and can ride those for quite some time.
I don't. The best 4 teams got in. Period. FSU can't preach about a schedule. BAMA absolutely had a better win and was also a conference champ. It sucks that it is Bama. However i think they drag Michigan and Texas will beat Washington with it being the better game of the two. Not sure what happens between Texas and Bama. What I do know is it ain't the same Bama Team they beat in week 2

Bama did have a better win. But they had a loss too. And why do the last 2 games hurt FSU but no one mentions the lucky turd Bama laid at Auburn?

I don’t think so. Buckeyes lose THE game and get left out of playoffs and will have some huge opt outs. Missouri will be motivated to win vs a blue blood and out a stamp on their season.
They’re Ohio State , they’re like Alabama . The talent just flows like a river into that place. Besides Alabama they have been the only team in the last 2 years that didn’t get totally man handled by Ga. Last years play off game vs Ga was a classic. They went Mano to Mano with them. This year they would do the same.

I have Texas winning it all, that offense is crazy good. 3 legit WR’s and a QB that knows wtf he is doing. Texas vs Bama will be a classic.
Texas will flourish in the SEC talent will pour into that place . Just puts my Vols another notch lower on the totem poll.

They went undefeated in a Power 5 conference while beating two SEC teams on the road. What more could they have been expected to do? Either FSU should be in or the selection criteria should explicitly exclude the ACC from consideration.
They can't do that since Clemson won it a few years ago. FSU lost their best offensive player. It sucks but winning an ACC championship isn't the end all be all. Ohio St won the Big 10 championship in 2014 with a first time starter in the championship game. The difference is OSU won that game 59-0. Had FSU done something similar last night then I think they have more of a case. From what I saw of last nights game, that's not the same team that won through out the year. Still a very good team, but I don't believe top 4.

It all comes down to what you "believe," not what has actually happened on the field. What we know is that Alabama has already been soundly defeated by Texas, so why give them a do-over instead of giving an undefeated Power-5 champion a shot to see what it's made of?

In our hayday we had a lot of seasons in which we were much better at the end than at the beginning, when we lost to Florida. We never got a do-over, and I don't recall anyone suggesting we deserved one.

You make a good case.

Of the 4 schools who have a shot winning a national title, who do you think is least likely to win a championship?

Has a school ever boycotted or choose to not participate? I'd like it if a school did that, because it would show us that sometimes ethics are the most important thing to an organization. However, it would be a missed opportunity for NFL scouts to see players play, so some players might not like that and getting guys into the NFL matters when it comes to recruiting, so it's a risky proposition, but has it every actually happened? Just curious because I definitely don't know.

No it comes down to straight facts. The FSU of last night was not even close to the FSU of a month a go. It's best 4 teams this year and at the end of the year FSU was not one of them. Without the injury, yes they were probably 1-2 by this time.

I don’t think so, but there were so many unprecedented things that happened in this CFP why not another one. I am sure NFL scouts already have a good ideal of the players’ skill sets. I think the team would also support a boycott of the FSU fans as well. It would serve the NCAA right to be on pins and needles not knowing if FSU is going to even show up for the game.

The NCAA is not involved in college football postseason play so they likely wouldn't care.

They prob should so they don’t get embarrassed by GA and prove the committee correct.

Michigan and Washington 1a and 1b
I just think both of those teams are about to see the difference first hand what speed and size can do when well coached. None of those kids on either team have competed against that kind of size and speed across the board. The physicality in both teams is a whole different level.

Texas will beat every team in the playoff, go ahead and toss Ga in too. They will beat them also. Everybody talking like Alabama will roll Texas this time around. Yeah OK. Texas has the Best offense in this playoff. They have 3 WR’s plus the second best TE (Sanders) in the nation. That means 4 legit weapons. Good luck beating them . They will beat Bama 34 - 24 again. Milroe don’t play defense.

What happened on the field was FSU looked like straight garbage minus their defense the last two games. Please make up some more BS about the greatness of FSU without their starting QB. Without their Heisman QB they would not have beaten LSU. I feel bad for FSU because with their starting QB they are 1-2. Without him they are not top 4. Now they are just Cincinnati south.
