Boycott ESPN

I have a feeling the same people that whine about ESPN and get their feelings hurt are the same ones that turn around and laugh about safe spaces and call others snowflakes.

Could be. I can’t imagine thinking the brain trust at a network sit around and talk about ways to stick it to Tennessee. They care about money and ratings. It amazes me the mental gymnastics it takes to have these conspiracy theories and persecution complex. It seems like a tough way to live, always being offended and feeling slighted, especially when it’s just your sports team. About 20 years ago, when I was a waiter, a couple told the manager I wouldn’t wait on their table because they were an interracial couple. I never went to their table because I didn’t know it was my table, I wasn’t told we switched zones. I told the manager that there was quite a leap from me sucking at my job to being racist. The reality is that I was bad at my job, but they automatically assumed it was something much more vitriolic. It’s no way to live seeing people and the world like that, assuming peoples motives and thinking everyone is out to get you, or caring if someone doesn’t like you.
I am sure there are people that cover college sorts that don’t like Tennessee, and other schools, but I don’t care. The thing is, the “boycott espn” “everyone hates us” crowd are part of the reason so many start to dislike Tennessee fans. I totally get it.

I just think it is unrealistic for fans to expect the “switch to flip” overnight. This is our first good season since 2001 if we’re being honest. Unless you are an underdog, smaller program, it takes multiple years in a row of sustained elite success to get the fawning praise that this board apparently desperately craves from ESPN.

Georgia and Alabama are the media addictions right now, but it wasn’t always that way. If we have another 10 win season next year, and then if we win the East within the next 2 years, the fawning over the Vols will only get bigger.
That’s fair. People forget ESPN personalities laughed at Bama being relevant again before Saban got there. I do still think there’s some agenda there as well though and always has been. Stroud and Hooker had identical numbers despite the numbers coming from one against much tougher competition, the award was going to Stroud. Media had already crowned him just he couldn’t deliver vs Michigan.

Won't ever happen, ESPN run college football

They absolutely do not run college football. They don't have vendetta l's against us or any other school nor do they decide rankings, playoffs or Heisman winners. I hope to hell no one really believes that.

Espn College gameday at what 3 of our games this year. Pretty remarkable in itself. I think the world wants to believe in Tennessee but the here we go again thing pops in a lot of people's head. We have to build off this season and gain trust. Going 10-2 in 20 years isn't enough. A lot of ohio state fans up here took the backseat a lot to Tennessee this year. 3 gamedays. To their 1 I believe? We were ranked #1 they weren't. We just have to keep building. I'm surrounded by Scarlett and gray and blue and maze. So I guess I'm on the outside looking in. Tennessee did great things this year and achieved a lot! Go Vols!

The networks talked down about Tennessee all year long, denigrated the fans and school at every turn, showed bias towards bama in the playoffs and now these a** clowns denied hooker the invitation to NY that he earned.

So I've decided that I am simply going to turn the tv off and listen to Bob during the games. It can't be worse than Gary Danielson.

Well you sure showed them who's boss!

I haven't seen them "talking down to us all year". You are just projecting your own insecurities on to them. Put your big boy pants on and get over it.

Brother, I understand your frustration…but at the end of the day they are owned by Disney and wouldn’t go broke even if our entire fanbase boycotted them. It is what it is, the best thing that we can do is win games to piss them off.
Yup Disney has even learned how to profit from bad press. They are too big to fail now. It's a sad reality I've come to. Less an less brand competition leads to a bad product. Notice how bland entertainment has become. I can't play Madden anymore. I don't watch movies either. Nothing good out there.

Kesling and Danielson about the same! Both terrible!

Wish I could boycott ESPN but with bowl season on the horizon, BB getting to the meat of the season and the Basevols season right around the corner boycotting isn't an option.

Quit watching ESPN a lonnng time ago because they SUCK, not for any conspiracy theories regarding Tennessee.

They're failing and they've earned it ...

I heard a lot of love for Tennessee all year from ESPN. Sure, Hooker was snubbed...but that's about all I agree with here.

How do you watch UT games not on broadcast TV?

Every swinging d in the state of TN could boycott ESPN and Disney and it wouldn’t even make a dent in their bottom line!

I promise to do my part to boycott ESPN. I won't buy any ESPN T-shirts/coolers/koozies/ball caps etc.

Plus they were all on the Tennessee bandwagon until we got destroyed by SC.

Outside of maybe a dozen (between mens BB and football) games a year almost every game UT plays is on an ESPN channel.

Why? I don't even listen to ESPN much,I've learned to mute the volume and just watch the games. ESPN has is just for entertainment purposes.
