I get the feeling that people who think Mac users are smug have never used one for any meaningful amount of time, and only get on the computer to browse the internet and play video games. Oh, and make powerpoints.

...I will never use an MP3 player that isn't an iPod, though.
Why? I've got a 40GB Toshiba Gigabeat running rockbox sync'd to Songbird... how is the iPod different than the tailored solution I put together?
Does it integrate with iTunes?
My setup doesn't, but Songbird does do import/export to iTunes, not real time sync though. What does iTunes offer me that I can't get elsewhere? I installed it for the first time only because I bought the iPad and had to do an initial sync, haven't used it since.
Rockbox supports MP3, OGG, FLAC, Wav, AC3, AAC, MP4, ALAC and WMA... Songbird is extendible (based on Firefox) and allows me to manage my music collection nicely. It scrobbles to Last.FM, allows me to do tag management, grabs lyrics if I want it to, generates playlists, etc, etc.
