Boycott Organic Food?

my home-built $400 PC can beat up your ipad. Now, get back in your Prius and go troll Murfreesboro for jailbait.

If scoping out the local middle schools is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Also, the iPad is great for highly portable pornography.

Now, if you will excuse me, I need to finish drugging these push-pops

I'd rather have the home built tower, but no denying apple products can pull tail.

Yeah, I am considering building a desktop and running hackintosh software and windows. I don't need windows often, but when I do I don't have many options

I do utilize boot camp a bit now on my notebook though.

just stay away from the mosque, gsvol might be lurking

One reason I choose PC over Mac is, from what I've heard, Mac doesn't make their software tools proprietary so it's harder for competitors to design programs for Macs. Thoughts?

Their proprietary bs does rub a lot of people the wrong way, however, I have their developer tools (Xcode, etc. which i got for free) on my pro right now

Anybody ever read Stuff White People Like? It's hilarious. One section is about "hating corporations":

One of the more popular white person activities of the past fifteen years is attempting to educate others on the evils of multi-national corporations. White people love nothing more than explaining to you how Wal*Mart, McDonalds, Microsoft, Halliburton are destroying the Earth’s culture and resources.

While the growth of multi-national corporations can be attributed to a number of complex social, economic and political factors, many white people prefer to take the word of two trusted sources: No Logo and AdBusters.

Published in 2000, No Logo has been responsible for more white person “enlightenment” than any book since the burning of the library at Alexandria. By reading this one magic book, white people are able to get a full grasp on the evils of multi-national corporations and then regurgitate it to friends and family.

Advanced white people will supplement No Logo with a subscription to AdBusters, where they will learn how to subvert corporate culture and return it to the masses. Specifically, this means taking ads and redoing them to give a negative message about a product. Apparently the belief is that when other people see this ad, they will be hit with an epiphany that their entire existence has been a Matrix-style manufactured universe.

If you plan to engage in lengthy conversations or get high with white people it is recommended that you read No Logo or one issue of AdBusters. Failing that, it is acceptable to buy a copy to leave on your coffee table. When white people see it, they will recognize you as someone who can see through the advertising and has a proper perspective on life.

When engaging in a conversation about corporate evils it is important to NEVER, EVER mention Apple Computers, Target or Ikea in the same breath as the companies mentioned earlier. White people prefer to hate corporations that don’t make stuff that they like.

Following these simple steps can help you gain the trust and respect of white people in a relatively short period of time.

Stuff White People Like #6 Organic Food:

Because of the balance of global wealth and power, there is a general assumption that white people are pretty shrewd. And for the most part, history has proven this to be true. But white people have one great weakness: organic food.

As seen by the image on the left – when faced with eating food that has been processed and loaded with nitrates, sodium and saturated fat, or organic rat poison, 10/10 they will take the rat poison.

Just like with farmers markets, white people believe that organic food is grown by farmers who wear overalls, drive tractors, and don’t use pesticide. In spite of the fact that most organic food is made by major agribusiness, and they just use it as an excuse to jack up prices, white people will always lose their mind for organic anything. Never mind the fact that if the world were to switch to 100% organic food tomorow, half the earth would die of starvation.

But white people don’t care, just so long as they aren’t eating pesticides they are pretty sure they can live forever.

It’s almost guaranteed that if some Columbian drug lord can start offering “organic” cocaine, he’ll be the richest guy ever.

Heard this as well, which is why I still maintain that they work very, very well for a fairly narrow scope of activities. I've gotten into it with people about this before, but I own the full Adobe Creative Suites, know how to use them, but if I had the money I would take a Macbook Pro with Final Cut Pro and Aperture every day of the week.

Hilarious book. Good light reading, can probably do cover to cover in an hour or two.

I am sure you enjoy it more than most, being from the northwest. My friend who went to UW said "You have no idea how real this is up here". That book was the best "toilet" reading I ever had.

I read the whole bit on the way back here on a plane from Phoenix (IIRC), and it's word for word gospel around here. That Portlandia show is pretty accurate as well. I live in a predominantly black neighborhood, but this city is still the white people Mecca.

I just like to know generally where my food came from and generally how it was produced. I'm fine with "organic" or "non-organic" (whatever that even really means), so long as I know the general details.

Source: me.

Same. Guilty here of shopping at Whole Foods from time to time, because they have tasty stuff and it's a ten minute walk from my house. The key is not being a richard about it.

the only issue i have is the big corporate farming are the harmful pestisides they use.

much of what is called organic, by government label or not, is not really organic mainly because the fertilizers often come from animals that are not organically raised.

How's the camera on that iPad?

Im a PC guy. I see Macs as more of a starter computer - more user friendly.

Got a pc, ipad2 and an Android phone. The iPad is my first experience in about 20 years with Apple. While I like the form factor, I don't like the closed ecosystem of Apple, it feels too restrictive.

My PC is tricked out just the way I like it and the Android is way more user friendly IMO. Going to get a 10 inch HTC Android tablet when it comes out.

Like you explanation. PCs are infinitely more customizable. Sure you can "build" your own Mac - but it's just mainstream add-ons with the prices jacked up.

It really seems like I'm wearing mittens when I'm using a Mac... been using PCs since the DOS days (I still drop to the command line to do some tasks) and can find my way around much easier... understand the system commands, the administrative commands, the networking commands and can get to them quickly. The learning curve for me moving to a Mac is too steep and something I'm not really interested in as I'm not a fan.

I am interested in learning Linux and have loaded a dual boot Ubuntu image on an old laptop, still struggling getting WiFi to work on it though, but otherwise it's straightforward. I'm probably going to teach my kids Linux before I teach them any other OS.

LOL, why are we talking computers in a rant thread about Organic food?
