Does his wife also have such a disdain for huge amounts of cash?
I'm sure we'll call Stevens whenever Butler is eliminated from the tournament.
But if he was going anywhere, I think he would have done it a year ago. He'd just took Butler to the final buzzer in the national championship game. His stock will never be higher than it was then.
Not everybody needs the big-name school to be happy. Mark Few clearly doesn't, and perhaps Stevens doesn't, either. He may even believe, based on what happened a year ago, that he can win the national championship at Butler, and since he likes it there, why leave?
Given the right amount of money, he would come, but alot of coaches are weary of the NCAA looming over our shoulders right now. Although I believe we will have a much lighter sentence now that Pearl is out of the picture.
lot are also skeptical of who they are going to be working for. the NCAA potential sanctions and who they report to are the biggest drawbacks for some of the prospects. they up and coming guys will jump regardless but for guys established, like Stevens and Grant, no way.
But the Oregon job is in, well, Oregon. Helluva long way from Indy.Stevens said last year in the Indy Star he has no intrest in coaching at IU now or in the future. He said he was more than happy to be at Butler and it would take the ideal situation for him to leave. I don't see us as that "ideal" situation right now. As far as the money, according to reports he turned down $3 million to go to Oregon.
That could be a long wait for a young coach with a family. After last year's NC game, one of Stevens' first interviews was with his good friend Dan Dakich (who wouldn't make a bad coach candidate himself). During that interview Stevens stated that he would stay at Butler until they didn't want him anymore. Stevens also went so far as to throw Thad Matta and Todd Licklighter under the bus for leaving Butler.
Butler's administration, alumni, and donors have all come out in full support of Stevens and the program all talking about wanting Butler to be mentioned in the same sentence with the basket ball powers (i.e. Kansas, Duke, UNC, etc.).
If Stevens eventually does go anywhere, it would be to IU...but only after Tom Creen wins a couple of NCs and retires on top of the game...
See above post. Again, I think Brad would be a good fit for Tennessee, Knoxville is close to Indiana and money talks. The whole point of this exercise is the administration needs to decide who they want for the basketball coach, go after them and don't take no for an answer.I think he is like Mark Few and won't leave.

Is this pretty much centered on Frank, Turgeon and Marshall at this point? Or are there any other big-name guys you've heard about that have expressed interest, but are otherwise under the radar?
