Any body else wonder if CBJ will break out/mix in Dobbs at certain points in the game vs Oregon? I really would like to see it, just to throw them a wicked curve ball, as it were. They might expect him to run only, and leave our WR's single covered. Plus, when he does run, he is the most capable in the group to take it the distance.

When watching his highlight reel, you can see him instinctively feel the pressure and slide around in the pocket to make the throw or take off with it once the protection breaks down. He's the best natural runner, and very elusive as a QB.

Not saying Worley hasn't earned the starting job, nevertheless, CBJ can lean on Worley's experience and leadership most of the game, but mixing in our most athletic QB, from time to time, can help just like it did UF when they won a NC with Chris Leak + Tebow (who was a true freshman, as well).

I absolutely believe CBJ will burn his redshirt by putting him in "cold" against one of the best teams in college football, without getting any ncaa experience against the lesser opponents we would have faced leading up to the game.

I absolutely believe that CBJ would do that.

Yes, please just stop. Throw a true freshman into an early season road game against a top 5 opponent? Not if he is smart (which of course he is). Let the kid develop. Unless he is the second coming of Jameis Winston at FSU,redshirt him and let him learn and grow and use him when his time comes and he wins the job. It wouldn't be fair to him or the team at this point.

I totally agree, especially since it will be on national television in a hopefully close game. No pressure at all for his first game action.

Also, I got the impression that R.F. had at least a some what better camp than J.D., from several articles during camp. They probably will try to give ONE of the two freshmen some work along the way, but they need to be very careful who they choose, and who they red shirt. You really don't want to burn a redshirt year for just a few plays here or there unless Worley or Peterman go down with an injury. Just like Worley had to when Bray broke his thumb in 2011, and Simms just wasn't getting it done.

It would make a lot of sense to throw Dobbs out there against a really good Oregon defense, and not play him against Austin Peay to at least get his feet wet. I see your point

He is our 4th qb... If butch has three other qbs in front of him then no I don't wanna see him play yet. Worley is the man right now despite his accuracy bein off the other day he was great. It was the first game and he can improve on that so I say no let dobbs sit. I would hate for him to burn a redshirt when we have other qbs to play

For a fan base that thinks their coach "gets it", there are an awful lot of people making suggestions as to who should or should not play.

Nobody said it would be a good idea to START Dobbs....just sprinkle him in at certain times.

Even though Munchie Legaux got benched about halfway through the season, for the Bearcats last year, they continued to mix him in a little bit during some of their games.

With one of the best OL in the country in front of him and 2 starting WR's at 6'4"+, it is not like you're throwing him to the wolves.

Seriously??? Where have u been

Under a rock apparently. If you can't prove your statements and only go by what you hear on message boards and articles, you should not say things that may not be true.

I'm looking at the depth chart now and it doesn't show a 3rd or 4th QB. But, it doesn't matter since we won't see either play this year if things go well.

I don't see a chance in that game for Dobbs to play. Guys lets be real, this is Oregon. I love my vols but cmon man. We are gonna need top notch play from our starters the whole game. Maybe we have a chance maybe not. I just don't see any of the QBs playing besides Worley, barring injury
