I'm sorry im a fan of winning, NCAA (Not NIT) Tournament appearances, and wins over top 10 teams. So yeah I guess BP is an idol.

But hey with this guy we can win regular season conference championships. :loco:

You mean other then the fact its not true?

Purdue has made the sweet 16 twice in the last 6 years. UT has made the sweet 16 twice and the elite 8, but Purdue is twice the basketball school UT is?

At least he had a winning record at his previous job. (And I like Dooley) Just sayin'. In all seriousness, many people need to chill, we could've done a lot worse. And most of those huge names we were hearing about were probably nothing more than pipe dreams to begin with. Good luck to Coach Martin.

Hamilton just said Martin was the first coach they interviewed.....

I'm paraphrasing here:

The search firm came up with a list of 25 candidates.....Martin was they first one they interviewed, they didn't feel they had a need to continue search.

Didn't want to interview 15-16 coaches.
Conzoe has second interview and Conzoe hit a home run yesterday afternoon.

This. Purdue has a much stronger history in basketball than Tennessee. Can't just look at the past six years. Indications are that if Painter went to Missouri, Purdue would have gone after Martin. We may have gotten darn lucky with this hire.

Indiana loves Basketball
Tennessee loves Football, and I'm not talking about just the schools but the states in general

Compelling argument. Since the inception of college basketball 6 years ago, UT has been much more successful than Purdue.


Care to compare Boise State's recent BCS bowl resume with UT's? What is Boise's standing as a football school compared to UT's?

UConn and TCU are also better football schools.
