Here's the problem: if this guy runs the program into the ground and we have to fire him we are back to square one. The whole deal before this hire was that Pearl made it possible to hire someone who could elevate the program. There is not one time in Tennessee history we couldn't hire someone on Cuenzo Martin's level. The hire sucks. The opportunity was wasted. The administration took the cheap way out. Fire Mike Hamilton.

And I will be completely behind this guy and rooting for him, but for the life of me, I don't see why we hired him.

Well good for him but UT isnt North Dakota State for the Deaf and Blind. We needed someone who has proven to have success, not just increased a win total. He never finished the job at MS. So who knows how good he actually is.

Plane hasn't landed and the guy is hated. Give it a chance. Im sure a lot of you were pissed about Dooley too and now love him. Seriously, embrace the man. He is our coach whether anyone likes it or not. SUPPORT HIM.

Anyone who isn't willing to give him a chance and cursing him(especially those of you just looking at overall record, and not the fine job he did improving that HORRID program) are welcome to find another basketball team.

Cuonzo played at Purdue/was asst there under Gene Keady. Also from that coach tree: Bruce Weber, Kevin Stallings, Matt Painter, Steve Lavin.

This was 1 of first names linked to Ark opening. He's not a complete dud.

I love that so many people are delusional enough to think they have any idea how good this guys can be as UT Men's Basketball Coach.

No choice but to support him. He may be the first coach who is listed as being on the hot seat before he's shaken hands at the podium.

We didn't get Ray Mears from a Division 1 program. You can pull a quality coach from any level.

I welcome Cuonzo Martin and hope he can build on the foundation left for him at Tennessee as he has built a losing Missouri State program into a winner in his first job.

It isn't a "wow" hire. But judge him on what he says, and what he does, over the next several months with the team potentially left to him.

While not totally upset about the choice, I feel the same as you about wasting an opportunity

I mean he may not be proven but at least he's not proven awful...

Don't start with the find another team bull****. People have the right to be pissed.. and the right to voice it.
