Somebody explain this to me like I am 8 years old? Starting SEC corners leaving makes no sense...
Probably tried to leverage the McCoy injury for more money and now is butt hurt. But he’ll stick around all spring, have a free semester, continuing using university resources…
Regardless of whether someone else wants him or not we’re having to spend more on him and having less to spend on others. His representatives are getting better offers from other schools than what he agreed to with Tennessee after the season. This is a constant process going on in the college athletics world we now live in.

It can be both though. Players can deserve more compensation, but college football can be worse for it. Don't know if anything would be different, but the entire system may have needed someone with some leadership skills to be proactive with it several years back.Maurice Couch would disagree. These kids have a right to sell their talent. Perhaps UT should step up and meet his demands. CB is a position of need. Let’s keep him here. Pay him.
In hindsight, I don't believe it was all about money for Matthews. He wanted some other assurances.Translation = Rickey Gibson is giving the Vols time to find more NIL money. It worked out pretty well for Mike Matthews. I imagine it will for Rickey as well. He sees the team need and knows his worth. Can't say I blame him.
What if we could use the money he's demanding to get a better player? Not saying we will, but we have no idea what's going on. No choice but to let it play out.Maurice Couch would disagree.
