Yeah, but you have to balance that with the possibility Syracuse may torch two relatively green corners in the opener. You’re missing the point. You gonna renegotiate with the rest of the team when they threaten portal?
2 words for Ricky, Well bye..
I thought he regressed a ton in November/December. He couldn’t cover anybody on OSU. I don’t think he commands a premium at all. He can be replaced by either a younger guy already here or a portal pickup.Yeah, but you have to balance that with the possibility Syracuse may torch two relatively green corners in the opener.
The possibility of a team exploiting the McCoy loss is there already, can we afford to make it worse losing our other starter?
UT was pretty much where women’s sports went mainstream. That isn’t going to happen. Our AD wants to win at everything. We don’t want to be a dumber version of UGA that only has one sport but we don’t win in it as much as they do.Just pay him it’s a joke we pay for women’s sports but not top dollar for football
Ohio State actually had the best receivers in college football. They'll be tough to cover on Sunday, much less Saturday.I thought he regressed a ton in November/December. He couldn’t cover anybody on OSU. I don’t think he commands a premium at all. He can be replaced by either a younger guy already here or a portal pickup.
If he's gotten an offer from elsewhere, it's a pretty sure thing they want him to start.I think what rubs me the wrong way is that the ONLY reason he’s doing this is because of McCoy’s injury. He just signed a new NIL deal after the end of the season. His pathway to playing time is assured. He WILL be the CB1 the first game of the year if he’s at UT. If it was a guy who sat on the bench with I would understand. These are football players who want to play. I get it. But RG was playing and will play more this upcoming season. He can go into the portal and get as much or more money no doubt, but the playing time isn’t assured like it is at UT.
how is he going to fulfill the NIL contract he signed two months ago if he transfers? He can’t. He’s not going to prison or anything but that doesn’t mean he didn’t violate the contract he signed. He absolutely negotiated in bad faith.
The player need to recognize the only reason they are getting paid is because the fans spend money whether from purchasing tickets or watching and advertisers paying for the eyes. Most of those fans are watching because it “their” team. When the fans don’t have the loyalty of the team, they will lose interest and the money will dry up.Yet somehow pointing this out means you're attacking him. I swear, we could have half our starters go to the coaches at halftime of the national title game and say "give us all big bonuses or we aren't going to compete in the second half" and there'd be people out there that would say "that's fair, that's just business."
Even in a world where one could say "that's just business," the idea fans should remain stoic about all this sort of stuff is, as I said back at the start of this thread, fascinating.
Then why is UT suing to make NIL and the portal chaos? You think UT wants to cut their own throat in this? The player need to recognize the only reason they are getting paid is because the fans spend money whether from purchasing tickets or watching and advertisers paying for the eyes. Most of those fans are watching because it “their” team. When the fans don’t have the loyalty of the team, they will lose interest and the money will dry up.
I can tell integrity isn’t a word you’re familiar with. You can't violate a contract for which there is no penalty for walking away. At will employees can sign a contract and be fired at any time or leave at any time. Also there's such a thing as an option contract where one party has the right to walk away from the obligations of the contract at any time.
Rickey Gibson had the right to walk away from this deal and go to another school if he wanted. He did nothing wrong. If you want to make what he did wrong then change the rules. Collectively bargain with the players. Create enforceable contracts. Etc. But as of now there's nothing he did that was against any law or rule.
Yes, as a matter of fact I did feel that way, about Tennessee and all the other schools that did. Others did, too. Another concern was the uneven application of the rules by the NCAA.I'm certain you felt that way when UT was paying players for decades when it was wrong.
Suddenly, everyone expects righteousness in football when it's not been that way in your lifetime.
Overall, this madness has been very beneficial to UT and they've supported all of this. It's allowed us to thrive after being torn apart.Yes, as a matter of fact I did feel that way, about Tennessee and all the other schools that did. Others did, too. Another concern was the uneven application of the rules by the NCAA.
Nobody expects righteousness from football. Many, including me, do feel that all parties to a deal should fulfill their part of the deal. I have never backed out on a deal I made and I don't expect others to. But you do you.
I can tell integrity isn’t a word you’re familiar with.
I’d trade all the air I breathe to have recently won back to back titles in footballUT was pretty much where women’s sports went mainstream. That isn’t going to happen. Our AD wants to win at everything. We don’t want to be a dumber version of UGA that only has one sport but we don’t win in it as much as they do.
Uh, Ohio State spends millions on women's NIL also. They are a massive school with a lot of successful alumni who back sports.i don’t care that’s why Ohio State beat us they are all in on what matters we aren’t.
Don’t be surprised when that scenario happens. I had read a story that Quinshon Judkins did exactly that 2 years ago at the half of an Ole Miss game and Kiffin refused to discuss it.Yet somehow pointing this out means you're attacking him. I swear, we could have half our starters go to the coaches at halftime of the national title game and say "give us all big bonuses or we aren't going to compete in the second half" and there'd be people out there that would say "that's fair, that's just business."

I dont think you have to look that far away from home.Don’t be surprised when that scenario happens. I had read a story that Quinshon Judkins did exactly that 2 years ago at the half of an Ole Miss game and Kiffin refused to discuss it.
I remember going into half with a 21-17 lead and having that goal line stop and we might actually be back... Then watch the collapse happen and said Pruitt wouldn’t last 2 another seasonI dont think you have to look that far away from home.
10/10/20
Never seen anything like what came out of locker room the second half
