No problem with me. Don't really understand the controversy either unless you are from the middle east and think women should wear burkas in public.

I've got an 8 month old boy. When we were in a restaurant my wife had no problem doing it at the table. If we were in a store she would either go find a quite place to sit down for a min or head out to the car. It's really about her comfort level (public bathroom was never an option). Unfortunately when my wife went back to work it was hard to find time to pump more than once a day and that caused her to wean around six months so we started supplementing. The ped told us there is a measurable difference during the first three months but after that its more about getting the antibodies. So we rationed out the frozen supply until it ran out about a month ago.

Eric, you will understand when you have kids.

That's hot.

How in the world did I miss this thread? One of the most polarizing threads in here... well not really polarizing, just a group of parents beating up on Eric for voicing his opinion.

I can see arguments on both sides.

For breast feeding in public: Really, it doesn't bother me if a mother has to do it. It's perfectly natural. I may even stand by and watch or offer assistance. But really, some people need to just get over themselves and not get so bent out of shape over stuff like this. However...

On the other hand, we do live in a narcissistic environment where a lot of people embrace themselves in the "look at me" culture. I could probably see cases where a mother could be doing it to draw attention to herself and posture herself as a better mother or parent than someone that doesn't breastfeed and goes about to be as conspicuous as possible with their feeding activities... only to then feign outrage when someone approaches her about being more discrete.

Is breast-feeding while in uniform conduct unbecoming to a military mom?

The debate over nursing in public got a new layer recently, when photos taken on an Air Force base began to circulate online. In the series of tasteful professional photos showing beaming moms as they nurse their kids, one jumps out: the photo of two servicewomen with their uniform shirts unbuttoned and hiked up to breast-feed.
