Bret Beliema - WISCONSIN

This would be the best hire we can get at this point. I'd be excited if this happened.

Not sure if THE BEST, but he has a lot going for him that would be a nice match for Tennessee. Heard Tennessee reached out to him, but haven't heard anything since.

I loate the big 10, but I think it is the next best conference behind the SEC. I like Bielema's defensive mind. I think he runs his style of play on both sides of the ball with SEC caliber players, good things will happen. Every year you'll notice that the Big 10 can't compete with the SEC due to the size and speed of the SEC players. He would be a good coach to consider

yeah, would have loved for Florida to have had a shot at a Big 10 team in the bowl.

i'll be watching Carolina play Michigan in the capital one bowl. that's the biggest game for me outside of the national champ game.

If teams are 14 or 15 point favorites, it is a mismatch for a bowl. Carolina and Michigan definitely is one of the better bowls to watch.

"He won't leave the BIG10", "He won't leave Madison".

Well, Arkansas hired a hell of a coach. I would have loved to have had BB at Tennessee.

I dont know about this one. On paper it seems like a good get, but I think he's a great fit at Arkansas for some reason. He's never coached in the south before. Different animal.

I am really surprised at the UT reactions to this hire. A good coach, absolutely. But does anyone think he was in our top 5 still active targets? If not, why would we offer him? Just to beat out another team to get our 6th or 7th choice? I think there are several realistic better options out there for UT, and a couple of not so realistic but possible hires.

Very good hire. Beliema is a good coach that likes hard nosed football. To bad TN did not get.

Texted a few of my friends here and they are all excited that he is out at Wisconsin. Some others tweeting "Bye bye Bielema, thank god that's over". So, like I said before, Badger fans were obviously getting sick of him. Interested who will replace him at Wisconsin.

He is better than Strong or Gundy.
We really do not know who Hart is focusing on.

Name the several realistic better options in your opinion.

Arkansas made the public statement they would make Gruden the highest paid coach in college. I would not doubt for a second several coaches then contacted Arkansas about their opening. Why try and sneak in the back door when your looking for a coach when you can make an announcement and let them walk in the front door? Hart seems to have his way of doing things. Arkansas just set the bar pretty high IMO. I had BB 3rd on my list after Patterson and Gundy and before Pelini.

The board I saw seems to think they will go back and try to get their old OC Cryst who just took the HC job at Pitt.

That's what I heard on the news here too so I wouldn't be surprised, he would be the ideal replacement for them. I'll most likely be attending there next year, so I hope I'll still have something interesting to watch. Only watched like 3 games all year, didn't miss a single Tennessee game though haha.

Well, if you are one of the ones who doesn't care about the baggage (I do), Petrino and Butch Davis. I thinks Strong would be a better choice for UT due to SEC recruiting experience. I like David Shaw better as well, just as successful vs better competition with NFL coaching experience. I would choose BB over Gundy, but others would disagree. Fedora is arguable. The less realistic would be Petterson, Patterson and Gruden. I would take BB over Golden, but really not anymore excited about either one. But my question was, do you think BB was in Hart's top 5?
