Thank goodness this guy has stepped up big time, now that Swain's ankle is hurt.

Two weeks ago: 7 catches, 94 yards
Today: 7 catches, 95 yards

After all, Meachem can't do everything. :)

Thank god for Bret.

He had two huge catches late in the 4th. I dont think he compliments Meach as well as Swain does though. With Swain in teams dont seem to double team Meach. But when Swain is out they do. That should change.

Smith is still inconsistent. He is OK as a number 3. He clearly isn't as good as Swain or Meachem. What worries me is that the guys below Smith don't even seem to be on the same level. What's the deal with Austin Rogers? Is he hurt? He's the only other guy I would want to have in the ball game outside our top 3.

Actually, I think I read somewhere that Rogers is hurt.

First of all Rogers has Mono. Briscoe and Taylor are young and IMO will be great. Hancock is the best young WR we have but they didnt play him at all today. Young guy in this game would have made a mistake.

I read that CPF is gonna try and redshirt Rogers.

taylor looked pretty good. Briscoe though, was a bullet aimed at the collective foot.

These guys are OK. Briscoe is inconsistent. Taylor is inconsistent and also very small. Hancock will be better once he spends a little more time in UT's conditioning program, hopefully. The problem with these guys is that I don't think any of them have near the physical abilities of Meachem or Swain. It's really a shame that we've had Swain, Meachem, and Smith for three years, and haven't really gotten anything special out of them until this season. We probably won't have any of them next year.

Briscoe did an okay job. I think he fumbled one that he got back and droped a sure catch. But the kid has hardly played all this year

of course their going to be inconsistent.......their still YOUNG we have a bright future at the recievers position

I think we have a lot of depth at wide receiver that can be developed. Plenty to be optimistic about. Taylor, Briscoe, Hancock, and Rogers will probably all get plenty of playing next year because Smith and Swain are seniors, and Meachem may be playing on Sunday.

UT has a lot of depth at TE. I was hoping they went to the shotgun with 3 WR's and a TE.

All those tight ends have done is disappoint in the passing game. The only one that is legitimate is Chris Brown.

I think Bret Smith is just as GOOD as Meach and Swain....his numbers would be higher if he did not suffer a concussion the 1st game of the season......Meach and Swain have high numbers this year.....Bret has perfomed well all 4 years at UT....He leads all receivers with TD's.....

He's not nearly as good. Trooper Taylor has pretty much said so.

Welcome to the board... and I'm going to have to disagree with you here. Bret Smith, while talented, does not compare to the talent level of Robert Meachem. Meachem is hands-down the best WR on this team as far as talent and production goes. Bret Smith is a very capable No. 2 receiver.

Your right. Chris Brown is only threat at TE. The Cottams are a joke, from drop balls to missed blocks in the run game they have been a disappointment. And the FBs, oh brother what a dissappointment!

Did anyone else notice that Briscoe looked uncomfortable out there on the field? He dropped what would've been a first down catch, and he also got stipped on what could've been a big-gainer. He just didn't look good out there.

Where did you get that from? I think Troop knows he is good....if he didn't think so....why do they go to him so much.....it's a team effort...and i think all three receivers are good.....and they couldn't do it without ALL THREE of them or AT LEAST TWO!!!

I think Meach is good....BUT i also think Bret is too! And I think it takes all three of them as a TRIO not a DUO to win!!! If it wasn't for Bret these last two games...UT would have lost....i live in GA and everyone at my job are BULLDOG fans...i was the only one at work pulling for UT....all of my coworkers were like MAN THEY COULD NOT STOP #9......he is really good...

I would give my left nut to have a tight end as good as Jason Witten on this team, well, maybe not my nut, but one of my kidneys for sure.:)

Well, it's kind of common knowledge. And yes, they went to Bret Smith a lot today because he was open due to Alabama concentrating on Swain and Meachem. Trooper doesn't tell Ainge who to throw the ball to....

Fact is, Smith is benefiting from the defense focusing on Swain and Meachem. I agree, Smith is good... but he's just not as talented as Meachem or Swain.
