Brian Kelly says LSU is not as bad we made them look

Just like tenn isn't the same as when they played Florida. Today they would slaughter Pitt.
I think LSU has a good team. They also had a good team two weeks ago, but they don't match up well with Tennessee.

Tennessee whipped them at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and just like Alabama, Hyatt beat them deep.

If you are trying to say that things would be different in a rematch? I strongly disagree.

With his talent base available and the program behind him, kelly may be the next Mark Richt. Good enough for 9 and 10 wins but unable to win the big one. Although I will be pulling big time for him to get the big win against Bama
And wow, that is so much more than you could say about Jimbo.

I do agree the teams disparity want as big as the margin of score. However Brian Kellys poor decision to use the same gambles as Billy Napier going over and over on 4th down. Had Brian Kelly punted in more conventional fashion it would have forced us longer fields and the score would have reflected that. So yes we still win but instead of 40-13 I think something more like 35 or 30 to 21 or 17.

We didn't play the game to keep it close

Really? We couldn't tell
I get what he's saying, but probably not in the way he wants to come across. Basically, he made a lot of dumb coaching mistakes that cost his team points. They weren't playing to keep it close and we were the better team on the field, so he cost them more with his boneheaded decisions.

I tend to agree with it. Had he called a better/smarter game, the score likely would've been around 40-24 instead of 40-13, but the dude made some real idiotic mistakes trying to keep pace with Heupel. He knew they were gonna lose, so he went for broke and it ended up a slaughter instead of just a blowout.

Ole Miss vs LSU was an afternoon game.
So ? What does that have to do with Tennessee kicking LSU's butt at the line of scrimmage ? What does that have to do with Jalin Hyatt torching LSU's secondary for a 45 yard touchdown ? That was not a close game. It is absurd to blame it on the time of day it was played... as if LSU would have been able to cover Hyatt if the game had just been played 3 hours later.

You are missing my point entirely.

No such conjecture is required. The games were played and Tennessee won. Those results should be respected by the AP voters. The facts don't care about our feelings.

Tennessee .... 40
LSU .............. 13

Alabama ...... 49
Tennessee ... 52

^^^ THE FACTS ^^^

We beat them really good in their home stadium, but one has to think how the game would have played out if not for the fumble on the initial kickoff and Kelly handing us a FG at the end of the 1st half. Getting out front early was a key for us and made LSU a little desperate. As a result Kelly handed us the momentum with dumb 4th down calls and we took advantage.

Regardless, I think we would have still beat them by 2+ scores, but that's mostly because we locked down Jayden Daniels. But Jayden is improving and he has looked really good the last two weeks. Even at his best though they cant keep up with us. But sure, they could keep it close maybe on a good day. They have a decent defense and could potentially keep us under 30 if they play well. But alot of "ifs" and "coulds"

Except that is how the game went down and we whipped their butts all over their own field. There's no reason to rehash it and start putting a bunch of "ifs" all over the place. Just check the box score.

I believe that. Brian Kelly is more straightforward than some of the weasel coaches living in the greater Tusk-a-loser area

Listening to Kelly goes against me, but I agreed that LSU looked not far from being a much better team than the score indicated.

If we hasn’t scored more on them than they did us they would’ve beaten us. Just saying :p.

Like you said lots of if’s. And that is why you play the games it never goes to a perfect script. Teams fumble, throw interceptions and miss field goals and make coaching errors. It’s easy for Kelly or people in general to play the what if game. It’s human nature to do that a little. But all that matters is what happened when the actual game was played and Tennessee went to LSU and whipped the tigers up and down the field. Them are just facts! GBO!!!!7-0! One game at a time!!!!!
