Brian Kelly says LSU is not as bad we made them look

I think LSU is very talented and have improved over the course of the season as a team. At least he blames his own coaching in the interview, but I still don’t like BK.

There may be some truth to the idea that they were closer to us than the score would indicate when we played, but they were still the worst team in opinion by a good margin. I think if that game was replayed a large number of times in alternate universes we still almost always get the win by at least 10+ points.

You are missing my point entirely.

No such conjecture is required. The games were played and Tennessee won. Those results should be respected by the AP voters. The facts don't care about our feelings.

Tennessee .... 40
LSU .............. 13

Alabama ...... 49
Tennessee ... 52

^^^ THE FACTS ^^^
You are the one who mentioned a rematch. I'm just telling you they are a better team who has found a way to pass the ball and not fumble the opening kickoff. IMO the outcome would not be similar. Probably 34-24

So ? What does that have to do with Tennessee kicking LSU's butt at the line of scrimmage ? What does that have to do with Jalin Hyatt torching LSU's secondary for a 45 yard touchdown ? That was not a close game. It is absurd to blame it on the time of day it was played... as if LSU would have been able to cover Hyatt if the game had just been played 3 hours later.
100% disagree. LSU at night or afternoon is not the same is an 11:00AM.

There isn't much of a sample-size for these 11 am games. An SEC game will only kick off at that hour in the Central Time Zone, and will typically involve either a mismatched out-of-conference opponent ... or Vanderbilt. Nobody wants to play that early for a variety of reasons.

However, it is a well-documented myth that LSU plays substantially better at night than they do at 3:30 (or 2:30, in their case) home games.

I think LSU is a good team. I give them a decent chance against Alabama. I get tired of reading how much better they are at night, however. There isn't anything to support that. Most of their games vs Alabama are at night, and they almost always get their a$$ kicked. The one time they have beaten Bama recently was in Tuscaloosa (2019) and it was a CBS afternoon kickoff, of course.

For the record, the last time Tennessee played a night game vs LSU in Baton Rouge was in September of 2005. Despite having a team that would finish the season with a 5-6 record, and despite LSU having a team that would would finish the season with an 11-2 record ... Tennessee won the game 30-27 in OT.

It is a myth that LSU is better at night when playing at home. I don't care how much they say it ... it doesn't make a difference.

Right now, you'd have to say Jimbo. Getting paid trucks of money to generally have an 8-4 ceiling. I don't like Kelly, but gotta give them some credit for regrouping after the beat down by the Vols.
Kevin Sumlin is available for $2mil/yr and can deliver the same results, with one 10-11 win season every 4-5 years.

If Heupel had been so inclined, the score could have been must worse.

I was happy to see us sustaining long drives when we decided to slow down though. Do that the week before in the Florida game and there would been a lot less complaining..

I am not sure if they are much improved. Their D relies on pressure which they didn't get against us. Their passing game is better, but our DL stopped their runs which is where they start. I think they can make it a tighter score, but we could have stayed on the gas and got another TD too. With our DBs out I can see them scoring 30, but I can also see us with Tilman back scoring 50+

This is a choice job of explaining away losing at home by 4 TDs. Dude sounds like he’s about to have a stroke as he starts his comments.

We caught them at a good time, jumped on them early and shut down their run...I think they owe Heuple a consulting fee since they have turned their season around after he schooled them.

We did wta but they are a better team now.
They have a legit shot to win the west.

We’ll, the way he sees it, it was 0-0 when the game began, but in his mind, it was 21-0. That’s the reason he made such stupid coaching decisions. Next time in his mind it will be 28-0 and he will start his second string to save his starters for spring practice. Talk about rent free.
