BMS really needed this race. Those that have critized (which included me) the track will be a little silenced. It's still not old Bristol, but definately a more exciting race than the past few years with bumping and banging and tempers flaring. Bristol was the way it 'oughta be tonight.

Agreed. Only thing I wish was the end of the race was a little more exciting, but I can't complain too much.

Uhh...it really wasn't any different. Glad y'all finally enjoyed the race. I've been enjoying it for years.

I was a little concerned when the top started rubbering in the way it did, but I actually like the way it turned out.

It was. In the spring there were 3 lines to run. Last night there were only 2.

And of those 2, the middle line was still a little faster than the bottom. There was definitely a preferred place to be, which lead to drivers having to fight for the good line as opposed to simply having all 3 lanes be equal, which just made it too easy to pass, and made it so there were hardly any cautions. I still would say I prefer the style from 5-10 years ago before they resurfaced it, but last night was a fairly happy medium.

I know people say you don't watch the race to see them run around under caution, but having several of cautions leads to a better race at Bristol. On such a small track a 200-300 lap green flag run inevitably leads to less than 10 cars being on the lead lap, which kind of detracts from the race IMO. The only cool thing about the long green flag run is that you get to see green flag pit stops, where the pit rules change, and there's almost always at least one driver who messes it up and goes through both pits like you have to under caution.

Last night was a MAJOR step in the right direction and I'll be interested to see if they are happy with the changes or decide to do a little more tweaking.

But Gordon, a five-time Bristol winner, thought the track was in terrific shape.

"I say they grind the whole place. It was awesome," he said. "It reminded me of old-school Bristol."

Does anyone else believe Tony tossed his helmet just to boost up the ratings? Normally, I would say no, but in this case I think he may have played up to the crowd a little bit.

I don't have a problem with the tracks, but I have major problems with the tire compounds and Nascar's tolerance for car specifications.
