Give Carnoustie it's due today. The leaderboard is only begrudgingly yielding red numbers...
best defense the course has right now is SLOW greens. Wanna watch the stateside PGA tour guys struggle, just slow the greens to a crawl and our putting will leave town.

Is that a Ryder Cup ploy at Euro venues?
without a doubt. we speed ours up but that doesn't help because good putters can deal with faster, vice versa doesn't hold true. If I were Ryder Cup captain with our squads, I'd pick places with huge fairways, long forced carries, mile long par 4s and superfast greens. I'd water the course to sludge and make 'em play target golf. (I would also leave Leonard and Verplank at home for that track)

Sergio is sitting pretty right now. As long as the wind doesn't blow and course conditions stay fairly benign, I think he wins in a cakewalk.

I hope Sergio wins, b/c he's too good not to have a major by now. And he's playing so well.

But I feel like ESPN has already anointed him, and 3 strokes over Stricker and 6 over a host of others is really not that much. It takes one of those guys shooting 68 or so and Sergio having an off day and shooting 74.

Serge is going good, but it's not as if he doesn't have a history of train wrecks.

He needs to avoid wearing those red pants with that bright yellow shirt, talk about train wrecks.

Green put in quite a round early in the day, -8.

He's at -6 with the leaders currently -7. He might end up the winner if Garcia keeps going backwards and Romero makes a few bad shots.

Harrington now tied for the lead with Garcia at -7... Romero back to -6 along with Els.

Talk about an ill advised shot attempt out of the yunk. Romero just blew himself up on 17.

Harrington takes the lead! This is shaping up to be an awesome finish.

What a difference a day makes. This is getting good thankfully.

Guys I overslept just a little. What's happened? I didn't think anyone could make a match out of it with the way Sergio was playing.

I have not kept up with it much, just now turned it on and saw the leaderboard.

I am glad this wasn't going to be a walkaway, but I want Sergio to win.

I'm not sure, I'm just watching a live leaderboard thing and I dunno how far it's behind, but it says he's on the 13th as of 5 minutes ago.

Garcia just tied him for the lead again in any event.
