Darth's comments are as important as your comments, whatever you viewpoint.
No, actually, they are not. Darth_Vol is what we call a troll . . . someone whose sole purpose is to stir s*** on message boards. His only comments involve whining, complaining, and bashing Holly Warlick. No value or importance to what he says whatsoever.
Hit the ignore button if you don't like Darth.
Why would I do that? My engagement on discussion boards does not involve ignoring people I don't like. Quite the contrary, actually.
Isn't the purpose of this board to express one's opinions?
Have you ever taken a good look at Darth_Vol's comments? He never -- never -- has anything good to say. His only purpose is to bash Holly and her coaching staff. Period. He has no other goal. The point of a discussion board is to discuss -- not to use it as your personal soapbox solely to ***** about someone you have an unreasonable problem with . . . especially when that individual likely doesn't even know you personally.
I agree that Holly needed to sign at least one post and obviously this did not happen.
It would have been useful, but it wasn't absolutely necessary for 2015. It will be very important for the coaching staff to sign a post (or better yet, a couple) for 2016. With Graves, Moore, and Russell returning next year (along with a bevy of big guards), the need isn't critical for 2015.
Not sure if it is an epic fail, but with Mercedes coming off surgery another post is needed. Better go big for '16, forwards and posts.
It wasn't an epic fail. I'm not sure what some people expect -- a coach cannot force a recruit to sign. Many years ago, highly ranked recruits had only a handful of options (Tennessee being among them) if they were serious about their basketball careers. Today, there are quite a few more choices (Tennessee still being among them). Fifteen or twenty years ago, factors that had to take a backseat due to the relative lack of parity in women's basketball (a school's location, a recruit's connections with alumni for a particular school, where a recruit's friends attend, academic offerings) can now be reasonably considered when a recruit is considering schools.
As I said in an earlier post, the coaching staff can be blamed if they break the rules, behave unprofessionally, or present an air of disengagement or relative disinterest when discussing their program, school, facilities, and team with the recruit and her family. I don't think any of those things are even a remote possibility with Holly and her staff. I'm not sure how anyone can say Holly and staff failed (especially "epically") just because Brown and Mompremier chose to go elsewhere. At the end of the day, where they attend college is THEIR choice. Not Holly's, not her staff's, not anyone's but THEIRS. I have absolutely no doubt that Holly is passionate about the Lady Vols program and about UT. I have no doubt that she puts the absolute best foot forward in recruiting, is engaging, personable, and beyond competent in explaining exactly how a particular recruit will benefit and be utilized within the Lady Vols program. If a recruit decides the program isn't for her, that's not Holly's fault. It's not anyone's fault. It is what it is. There will be other top recruits, and Holly and company will continue to get their fair share of them. But the fan base is deluding itself if it thinks she can get ALL of them. In this age of parity in women's basketball, that simply isn't a reasonable or realistic view to hold.
