As physicians, we are always learning. And what I learned last night in this thread are two things. One, people that work in the emergency room as orderlies or checkout staff are not “medical professionals“ and should not be rendering opinions. Two: It’s shocking to me that we have individuals that are voicing their displeasure over insurance issues and their own ignorance about vaccines and projecting that onto physicians. Anyway, Go VOLS! 😂
You sound like a reasonable soul. My contribution to this conversation.

I recently saw a BCBST document that showed payments to Providers for vaccines that was incentives based. As I recall, a payment of $350 if they can get the patient to take a series of 4 vaccines. My PCP really pushes vaccines to the point it's annoying.

There are $100s of billions in pharma. The Sackler family alone made $10s of billions on their opioid Oxy. They were assisted by young cute sales Reps pushing their poison to willing and complicit physicians. I'm sure there was/is plenty of money in the pot for physicians willing to play. Rogan's interview with Peter Berg is crazy. I don't recall any kickbacks (legal) but with that amount of money there's much temptation.

Until Covid I was a silent and compliant patient. Now I am more aware and ask a lot of questions. Fauci and his NIH nearly destroyed the idea of diet and exercise for good health and replaced with Big Pharma so folks like Gates and pharma can profit. If you haven't read, RFK Jrs book The Real Anthony Fauci is an eye opener on the industry.

Dana White recently said he avoids healthcare professionals for general health issues. I agree. I've had BCBST nurses and docs tell me for years I need to get on a staten for borderline numbers (that the industry pushed down to sell their drugs). Now we are seeing long term affects of statens and realize this was a mistake in most cases.

I have little trust in your industry. Oh, there are some great docs but the industry as a whole is all about power, control, money.

To bring this back to topic... for anyone to diagnose by seeing an incident on TV and not examining the patient is foolish. To state a man will never play the game again is reckless and sick.

There's far too much to unpack here but neither BCBS TN nor any other health insurance company are in the health care business.

Is Allstate in the car business? the home business? Insurance companies are in the COST MANAGEMENT BUSINESS..... not healthcare. Every single thing they do or push is designed to save them money, just like your car insurance pushes seat belts and air bags and driver's ed classes and whatever.

Stop thinking BCBS gives a damn about anything except saving BCBS money. That's their business.

Or you have complete sh!t insurance or no insurance at all. I've suffered bad sinus infections my whole life and been prescribed antibiotics steroids and steroid injections and I bet I havent paid $340 for all of it combined.

Well, amoxicillan and augmentin (spelling? Idk I don't care to look it up) are dirt cheap on good rx without insurance also.

Also, no, I'm not sponsored by good rx

Could we see Dee Williams on offense now? Rocky top talk posted an article showing a social media post from Dee with him and Squirrel that said "almost time". If we just occasionally feed him some of those bubble screens, he's going to do damage. With Bru out and the bye week coming, this could be the opportunity to move him over. Huepel didn't completely shoot it down when asked about it. The guy is absolutely electric, he could be a difference maker if we can find ways to get the ball in his hands.

Do we get Thornton back any time soon? Also I haven’t heard any solid info on Pili. Does anyone know? Sorry if I just missed it. And thanks!

Not sure what you were shooting out with that but you missed the mark. Did I say BCBST or any stakeholder gave a damn or what business they're in? 😂

I'm not in primary care nor do I want to have anything to do with it, but my favorite part of this is (paraphrasing, granted) "I don't think I need statins so I won't take statins."

Crap, I'm 32 and I'm thinking about preemptively taking statins. One of the best medicines of all time imo.

Why is BCBS TN pushing you to bill them for more meds? Why, when they are in the cost management business, would they want to pay out more money?

Care to explain why they want to spend more money on you?

BCBST isn't pushing me to bill anyone. I'm not a physician. I don't do billing. And I avoid being a patient.

My comment was in response to someone indicated there are no kickbacks to providers for scrips. I don't know how the back office functions and what's illegal but there's tons of money in the industry and drugs are pushed, baselines moved, and often patient health takes second to profits for many stakeholders in the system.

I came across a document a while back that had reimbursement tables for certain procedures. I recall one table was an amount paid if all vaccines were administered. I call this an incentive payment. To answer your question, I have to think the insurance companies think vaccines are good insurance and aid in cost avoidance and mitigation.

Further education... Start with RFK Jrs book The Resl Anthony Fauci for truth. The Rogan podcast with Peter Berg is alarming.

Most physicians don't do their own billing either. In fact, most physicians (at least in 2023) have very little idea how billing works, nor do they really want to. I'd actually argue that's a huge deficit in medical education.

Yep. Pre certs and billing are usually outsourced these days.

Which is exactly why people should look into Direct Primary Care for primary care needs. No insurance accepted/involved. Patients pay a monthly membership (often less than $100/month which is far better than most insurance premiums). And have direct access to their physician at all times (unless the physician is on vacation, in which case the patient still has access to a covering physician). This model allows providers to carry smaller patient panels and thus spend more time (often a full hour) during each appointment.

I’d love to see the source on that “document”. It’s pretty easy to find bad advice on the internet (especially if your primary sources are politicians/YouTube/podcasts).

I'm familiar and some close friends in the Mobile, AL were very satisfied with that type of arrangement until the need for specialists proved quite expensive.

For instance, the injury Bru just sustained will not be successfully covered via that situation unless an orthopedic surgeon is involved, which they generally aren't. Getting the MRI done, the OR booked, the surgeon and surgery team booked, etc will not be cheap.

If you're going to pay $100/month + a catastrophic, high deductible premium also, I'm unsure you're going to save too much money.

And before you say Bru's injury is a sports injury, I've seen the post-op x-rays of a similar break to Bru's, including plenty of screws and a plate or two, from a person getting pulled off a curb while walking a large dog.

I like alternatives to "normal insurance" but if you lead an active life or your kids lead an active life, it's a risk-benefit dance and the older you get, the riskier a cardiac or vascular event becomes.

Ha: Some of these comments are laughably crazy and ignorant.

RFK Jr.? Seriously? He's a complete crackpot and well-known conspiracy theorist.

This book is extremely well documented. Facts are facts. He gives a QR code for anyone to provide feedback and contest his findings. The data is compelling.

What finding in the book do you disagree with?
