everybody makes mistakes. i dont see a reason why what he did at milwaukee has to do with here.
You're right. I'm sure the NCAA will ignore the fact he broke the exact same rule at Tennessee, then lied to their faces about it.

Would BS go out and buy you pizza? Would BS paint his body orange? Would BS go to student lounges and get up on tables and give you a pep rally? CBP is the real deal. A monentary lapse in judgement is not enough reason to dismiss him. Is he perfect - absolutely not. Forgiven - yes.

:lolabove:

If body paint and pizza are part of your criteria for hiring a head coach...I really don't know what to tell you.

Self had the school to bring in big talent. I have been watching Tennessee basketball for over fifty years and have never seen a coach here bring in the talent Pearl has. We were ranked #1 for the first time under Pearl and knocked off two #1 ranked teams in the same year
with less talent than Self. We went to the elite eight for the first time under Pearl and we are just getting started
because before Pearl is done coaching there will be a number of NC banners hanging in TBA.

Lmaoooo what a joke. Like it or not pearl is the best coach for UT. He is the face of Tenn basketball. Period. It's sad to me you people would fathom having a different coach after everything he's done for this program. Don't forget, before him TBA was empty and you probably weren't watching more than four games a year.

I love how the bandwaggoners assume that just because they weren't watching before Pearl got here, nobody else was either. Priceless. Some of us have been watching UT basketball for 30 years or more.

OK we get it, Bruce Pearl is the best thing to happen to UT basketball and he is UT basketball. He is a good guy who made a mistake, cried, and everything is OK. If he leaves, we can't hire anyone but Peterson, Green, or Houston and our program will fall apart.

Moving on now.

There's something in the Tennessee state constitution that says that the only coaches allowed to coach at Tennessee are Wade Houston, Buzz Peterson, and Bruce Pearl.

If Mike Hamilton breaks this amendment, there will be a steep fine and prison time.

True story.

If Bruce went to the pen for killing someone...say Calimari, I would still want him back as coach.

If we're getting major penalties ore he's getting a year suspension, he should be gone, period. Especially if we avoid major penalties by getting rid of him.

And fyi, we could have hired Bill Self years ago. UT can get a good coach.
No way we hire a coach from Oral Roberts....

Why do you consider the severity of the penalty to be a relevant piece of information?

Seems to me that if we got severe penalties, there's no way UT would be able to compete and recruit at a high level with Pearl in charge. I feel like if the penalties are severe, it would leave a much longer lasting impression.

Where do you think Williams was coaching in the final 4
before he went to North Carolina.
You realize you just listed another good coach, right? Point being, you don't have to be Kentucky to get good coaches and have success.

i know he made a mistake, but don't we all make mistakes? he didnt cheat or anything. he just told a little bald faced lie. callipari cheated everywhere hes been. yeah, i can understand why some people are upset, but the man has done more good for UT than any basketball coach ever did. besides, who else would come here? we arent a basketball school like duke or kansas. we are lucky to have him.

go vols!

I agree in principle. Bruce turned the program around by turning a sows ear into a silk purse. He took over a program with very little talent hoping to get an NIT bid into a perennial NCAA automatic team with talent at every position. What he did financially for the program is amazing. He had the key to the city. Why he chose to risk that by knowingly breaking the rules for no apparent gain you would have to ask him? I can't explain it. Then he compounded the secondary violation by lying about it and conspiring with the family of a recruit to lie about it. Again, makes no sense but it happened. I hope he withstands and remains the coach but because he has done his job so well UT is probably in the best position in 20 years to hire a top name replacement. This was not possible when Bruce was hired but any top coach would have to take a hard look now with this roster and the recruits that signed last week. Its a win win situation for UT regardless of how it goes down.
