This is pure and simple a failure by the TEAM to execute nothing more, nothing less.

Sat. will be a loss to Vandy

Alright I'm done here. Say this is a ridiculous post if you want but all I am saying is that I did not stand in like for 3 hours with thousands of other students to see us not be able to defend a screen and roll or get off a decent shot in the last 1:30.

Yes, I am happy with the 20 win season and the NCAA tourney, but I am NOT happy losing at home twice in a row to 2 teams we should have beaten. Guess if you guys wanna be content with that call me an idiot for starting this thread but I've never been one to settle on anything...

That's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. You might just want to forget about going to all the games against the good teams and only go to the ones that you're sure we're going to win.

It was a very disappointing loss, but life goes on and on.

It shouldn't surprise you, this is how Vol fans are. Listen to sports talk in Knoxville, thankfully I don't have to. We could go 12-1 in football and that one loss fans would be calling in calling for Fulmer to be fired. As much as I don't like to agree with the opposing trolls on these message boards, I truely think most Vol fans are idiots.

If you want to call not settling for losses when you should have won being idiotic, I am guilty! :mf_surrender:

There have been innumerable asinine posts on this board. However, I think we have a winner as the single most ridiculous post in VolNation history.
For once I'm with Mr. Hatvol on this one.

After the coaching job that has been done, to accuse Pearl of being outcoached... do you understand that Kentucky has overall better players than we do? On a bare talent/physical level, no coaching involved, UK runs circles around the Vols. You sir, are insane. That said... the stripes were terrible in this game... while they weren't so bad late, and even made a couple of make-up calls... they kept UK in it in the first half, plain and simple. That said, as flat as our guys were after the half, you can tell there just isn't any gas left in the tank...

You guys are acting like I am saying Pearl should be fired. I love the guy and am glad he is here.

However, I do think he got outcoached BECAUSE Tubby made the adjustments at the half he needed to make whereas we made 0 adjustments to anything they were doing. Pearl has done an excellent job with this team and he would easily win my vote for national coach of the year, but in THIS game, Tubby did a better job. If you disagree with that, you didn't watch the game!

But that's not what you said . . . You said "Bruce Pearl costed us this game" and that games like this "make you wonder about Pearl". That's a lot different than being disappointed about a loss.

I think I speak for everyone when I say we're all disappointed and don't need a lecture about "settling" for a loss.

You should ask the broken foot stool that I hurled across the room about me settling for a loss. :blush2:

You need to settle into a chair in the classroom and learn proper English. Costed? Damn!

THEY SHOT 78.9% FROM THE FIELD IN THE 2ND HALF.

No one wins a game where the opposing team shoots that well. Give me a damn break.

Nothing sets me off quite like somebody telling me I'm "settling" for a loss when all I'm doing is not doing the typical whine and second guess.

the reason they shot 78.9% is because they were all from 2 feet GENIOUS!!

And why did the shoot them all from 2 feet? Because we couldnt defend a screen and roll!!

Coaching consists of a lot more than what you do in the game. I'd be willing to bet that Pearl has drilled those guys time and time again about defending the pick and roll, as well as defending the point guard that walks as he drives to the basket. You could tell the TEAM's heads just weren't in it in the second half, on either side of the ball.

Are you now willing to admit that my recent posts have not been negative, but, in fact, realistic?

Every coach looks like a genius when his team hits 79% from the field.

I'm sunburnt, tired, and hoarse. I got to the arena at 12. Waited 6 hours in the sun, got inside, waited two more...watched two hours of basketball in a GREAT environment..only to see us implode in the 2nd half..

It's like we gave up..why guard a post player that far out and leave the lane wide open for Rondo to dribble/half walk/shoot floaters all day. If some post player wants to shoot 3's on us, let him. STOP the penetration though.

We played a damn good game, for the most part. Easy baskets, freethrows, and letting rondo play street ball for 10min cost the game.

So can you guys actually tell me in all honesty Bruce Pearl did a better coaching job tonight than Tubby Smith???

That was my whole point from the beginning. It wasn't to bash Bruce, even though it may seem like that. I have stated over and over I love the guy and am glad he is here. I am only saying Tubby did a better job tonight...

I dunno man... There's a tone to them that strikes me as very negative. Maybe it is my optomistic views that just make them seem horribly negative.

Are you willing to admit that I was right about Morris being able to eat us up in the post? (we fought about that before the first UK game, if you recall...)

GENIOUS? Are you KIDDING me? Are you twelve? Costed and GENIOUS? Wow...

edit: evidently I can't spell either...

Yep, there was no mystery to what Tubby did. He wanted to score in the paint and they did it.

Pearl and the Vols fought Kentucky with all they had. UK shot 78% in the second half and only won by 2. I think that speaks VOLUMES about what kind of coach that Pearl is.

Tubby knows he got away with one tonight and you can bet that he's not too happy about having to compete with Pearl on the court or in recruiting. That is, if he remains at UK.

You just look at what Pearl has done with his talent compared to what Tubby has done with his this year.

Give me a break.

I'll take that as a NO. No one can say Pearl did a better job, so my argument is in fact a valid one... Therefore, I am declaring myself a GENIOUS!

just kidding, but seriously I am right on this one.
