Bruce Pearl costed us this game

So can you guys actually tell me in all honesty Bruce Pearl did a better coaching job tonight than Tubby Smith???
The team with better players won. Period. I've been called negative for pointing this out numerous times, but, contrary to what most Vol fans think, Chris Lofton is a limited, one dimensional player. Quick, strong, determined defenders will clamp down on him. Chris is a lot like a "mistake" hitter in baseball. If you hang a pitch, they kill you. However, if you execute and stay alert you can neutralize them. Huggins, Pitino, and Smith didn't recruit him for a reason.

OK LOOK, TUBBY WANTED TO SCORE POINTS IN THE PAINT. DUH!! HOWEVER, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME THEY WERE RUNNING PLAYS THAT JUST WERE NOT BEING SUCCESSFUL IN SCORING FOR THE MOST PART. SO, HE ADJUSTED AND CAME OUT THE 2ND HALF, SPREAD THE COURT, AND LET RONDO AND MORRIS TAKE OVER THE GAME. WHILE HE WASNT THE ONE MAKING THE PLAYS, HE WAS THE ONE WITH THE DECISION TO RUN THAT OFFENSE THE ENTIRE 2ND HALF!

I'll take that as a NO. No one can say Pearl did a better job, so my argument is in fact a valid one... Therefore, I am declaring myself a GENIOUS!

just kidding, but seriously I am right on this one.

First, learn how to spell genius before declaring yourself one.

Second, make sure you read the replies above yours before doing so....

Thanks for playing. :biggrin2:

Please don't tell me you just said that!?!? You do know Lofton scores a lot of his points in the paint on driving layups or pull up jumpers. And you do know that Lofton does a great job on the defensive end. And you do know that Lofton guarded Sparks for much of the night and allowed him ZERO points in their half court...

yeah typically the better team is unranked and has a worse record.

You know someone is wrong when they have to start yelling to make their point...

Actually, OWB just gave some good evidence...

Obviously TN Vol 0320 is correct. Why the hell didn't Pearl tell the Vols to go out and hit 79% of their shots in the second half like Tubby did? That Tubby is a genius!

I dunno man... There's a tone to them that strikes me as very negative. Maybe it is my optomistic views that just make them seem horribly negative.

Are you willing to admit that I was right about Morris being able to eat us up in the post? (we fought about that before the first UK game, if you recall...)

GENIOUS? Are you KIDDING me? Are you twelve? Costed and GENIOUS? Wow...

edit: evidently I can't spell either...
I never said Morris wouldn't do damage against us. I simply said we have played against guys much better than him this year. Boomer Herndon could probably get 16 and 8 against our inside guys.

I believe that just like I believe you can conjugate the verb "to cost".

You guys just make sure you rinse your mouth out when you get Pearl's balls out of there...

Like I said, I love the guy. He has done an incredible job with this team and with this program. I am not saying anything negative about him at all.

Yes, they shot almost 80% in the 2nd half. The reason is because they were all layups and dunks. Why? Because at halftime Tubby changed their plan and allowed Rondo and Morris to go nuts because he realized we couldn't guard them.

Therefore, Tubby made the game winning decisions in the game tonight...

Thank you, and goodnight!

Guys, guys.....take a deep breath and a chill pill. This game did not end our season as so many other UK games have done. We gotta shake off this loss and take Vandy down, then get ready for THE DANCE!!!

TENNESSEE is GOING to THE DANCE!!! Give Kentucky credit and move on.

I'm proud of our players, our coach, and MOST of our fans!! What a run this has been!!

I also think that those teams with better big guys beat us on most of those occasions. Glen Davis being the first one to come to mind.

And I dunno about your thoughts on Lofton... when we played UF here, Hump was draped all over him and he was still making his shots...

Obviously, reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. I said Kentucky had better PLAYERS. Tennessee has a better TEAM, as evidenced by their SEC East championship. However, given that Rondo and Morris were obviously the two best players on the floor tonight, I'll stick by my assessment of the talent level of the two teams.

Hey, we'll trade Howdy Doody and a few assistants right now for Pearl. We're 1-6 in games decided by 3 points or less.

We know what it's like to have a coach that costed us a few games.

Are you guys going to fire Odom and let him move on to the Southern Conference, the level he should be on?

That doesn't mean that he wasn't stuck to Lofton like glue that night. I saw Chris make a shot with Hump literally humping him.
