Bruce Pearl is a better basketball coach than Kevin O'Neill

But what would the championships be?

Championships? 1 NIT championship and a bunch of conference championships. Add in some Final Fours as well. Again, this is simply an argument about context.

Coach X was Dean Smith, who was given the reigns of NC in the early 60s. Not saying Kevin O'Neill is in his league, but I am saying that you have to give a coach more than a few years to build a program. Kevin O'Neill has never had that luxury.

This is a most excellent offseason. Pelphrey, Davis, and Capel getting what they deserve. Sid Lowe walking the plank soon. It's always good to see people get what's coming to them. It's getting better by the day. Can't wait for the weekend.

Crap team? When has he put together a roster better than the three guards Buzz left?

I miss CJ Watson, Jujuan Smith, and Chris Lofton...

Sadly, I might even take Dane Bradshaw and Jordan Howell over some of the guard play we've seen this year.

He had that luxury and left on his own accord. 14 years. He's running out of time.

Pearl doesn't have the failures on his resume that O'Neill does. Does O'Neill have the successes on his resume that pearl does?

Lowe's still employed? I thought he already got canned.

I don't understand why stuff like this is necessary.

I enjoy rubbing it in the faces of all the sycophants who were goofy enough to believe in Pearl. I've had to listen to people mark out for him and his merry band of goons for five plus years. Now, as I did with Fulmer and the Skoal Patrol, I'm going to revel in their destruction.

So do you believe that any idiot can win at UT?

Got it. Rubbing stuff in others faces and revelling in the destruction of others just isn't of interest to me. Different strokes.

Thanks for your input. Actually, I'm trying to work and check out threads during lax times. Sorry about the spelling. I can't spell, but at least I know something about basketball and coaching. That's certainly more than I can say about you. Keep to the spell check mode, that's about all you are good for.

I can't stand spell checkers. You didn't mispell it, you don't even know who he is if you spell his name O'Neal - not once, but twice. Mispelling it would be messing up the "e" and "i", or leaving off an "l".

I called you out for not even knowing how to spell Kevin O'Neill. Keep defending the honor of your hero.

Hatvol, as someone who hasn't been following your vitriol directed at Pearl for the past five years, and I am asking this seriously, why do you hate him, and his staff, so much? Are there things that have gone on behind the scenes that still have not gotten out that you know about?

And I am not a HUGE Pearl fan, either. I don't really hate him as a coach, but I'm not a huge fan, either.

No, but for what UT is paying Pearl finding a winning basketball coach should be easy work. If it's not, you need a new athletic director.

Define winning basketball coach.

I would guess that before Pearl that definiton would have included multiple sweet sixteens and SEC championships.

Sidney Lowe is a helluva coach since he's been a head coach in the NBA - not for just one team, but two, right?

Why has he never "had that luxury"? Serious question.

So by your third year, you think a good coach would win 5 games?

Not trying to speak for hat, but you may want to start by googling "Deon Thomas" and "The Pump Brothers". I've seen him mention both before, and both situations say something about Pearl.

I'm not someone that hates Pearl (was a fan early on in his UT career but always somewhat cautious about his past - now I do think he should resign or be fired after the tourney appearance), but it's worth reading to better understand the man.

Since Pearl only has one, I think we could still say championships.
