Bruce Pearl is a better basketball coach than Kevin O'Neill

Clearly illustrated by O'Neills many big wins. He really turns it on in march when it counts.

So does Pearl. Those Winthrop style beatdowns are pure coaching genius. Look how great a job he did last year getting Goins to make a boatload of threes to save our asses against SDSU. Brilliance, I say.

Haha. There it is. 2 games overturn a career of mediocrity.

Ws are your silly end all. Comparing the two has to start and end there. O took two inferior teams and beat the living dog piss out of two better teams for Pearl.

Back from what? A team that had won 20+ games 4 straight seasons and made the tournament 4 straight seasons with a blithering idiot as head coeach when he took over to a team that averaged 15 wins a year for 4 years?

Good grief. That's ridiculous to even compare the two.

But Buzz stock-piled the team with talent though, right? I remember everyone in 05 saying this team is just loaded with talent all we need is a great coach (sarcasm). If you are going to give Ryan credit for Pearl's success with players that didn't even play for him then give Buzz credit for all of our success.

Yep, that terrible SDSU program. I bet they had a terrible team that next year. Or that Ohio state win. So bad.

Buzz brought UT from quality players and lousy coaching to lousy players and atrocious coaching.

Pearl took the 05 team and beat the national champions and beat them again in 06. With a big talent differential. Your point?

I'm comparing Ws over a 300 game period. You want to compare 2 games.

McCants was their best player and was a senior that didn't play until Bruce got there and averaged 17 ppg.

Tucker didn't do anything until Pearl got there.

So pretty much you have a team that couldn't do anything until Pearl was their coach, and you give credit to Bo Ryan.

I guess Buzz was the one that brought TN out of the dumpster then since he had Lofton, Watson, Smith, etc... here.

3 of the starting 5 were 5th year seniors.

They sure were more fun to watch when Buzz's recruits were on the court as opposed to an entirely pearl recruited roster, I do know that much.

Hold up. I said he mastered the art in winning those games. Competition and quality of teams is immaterial according to the stupidity you've been tossing around. Why the hell do those matter?

Oh, you forgot the awesomeness against Winthrop as a two spot. We won't even bring up the 247 threes against a midget OSU team. We should have won because our coaching was superior.

So you are going to give credit to Ryan for their best 2 players not even playing for him? Bruce got there, and McCants averaged 17 PPG after not even playing the previous 2.

If you are willing to do that, then was Ryan's players more suited for Pearl's offense rather than his own?

Also, you have to give credit to Buzz for 05-07 since he was the reason we had a lot of those players.

Minimize Pearls wins and prop up O'Neills losses. Makes sense. It's the only way to argue for O'Neill.

Quit being ridiculous. You have to give Ryan credit; 3 of the players that he recruited couldn't be beaten out by any of the players Pearl recruited. And they were instrumental to a Sweet 16 run.

So if they were 17 PPG good and 16 PPG good, then why couldn't they crack Ryan's roster the first two years? Was it because they didn't fit Ryan's system? Or was it because UWM was already stacked with talent.

Who is being ridiculous? Surely it's not the person who is giving credit to Ryan for players that couldn't even crack the lineup before Pearl got there.

I'm not minimizing. I'm saying they were pure coaching genius. Winthrop should have been that tight. We should have needed Goins, our worst shooter, to bail us out. We should have shot 213 threes with the worst 3 point shooting team in America against a team of midgets. That's coaching prowess.

If we are going to go by fun to watch, then why are you arguing in favor of O'Neill again?

Fun to watch = had a collective bball IQ of over 25 and knew what to do on the court.

Perhaps the phrase "not nearly as frustrating" would have been better.
