Bruce Pearl is a better basketball coach than Kevin O'Neill

I'm not minimizing. I'm saying they were pure coaching genius. Winthrop should have been that tight. We should have needed Goins, our worst shooter, to bail us out. We should have shot 213 threes with the worst 3 point shooting team in America against a team of midgets. That's coaching prowess.

At least he was in the NCAA tourney?

The Final Days of Bruce Pearl are going to be fun around town. Hopefully, we'll get Superfly Jones wandering around dowtown in one of his neon suits one more time. Maybe Bruce can finally reach his apparent goal and pick up a teenage girl at Rooster's. Perhaps Forbes and Griff can clean up the internet once and for all. Maybe Jason Shay will introduce Bruce to his wife. So many open storylines.

Fun to watch = had a collective bball IQ of over 25 and knew what to do on the court.

Perhaps the phrase "not nearly as frustrating" would have been better.

Apparently fun to watch is following a guy that has 2 more wins than losses over his career. I think I would have a lot more fun watching 231-98.

The difference is that what I said was right. If someone said that, they are wrong.

Ultimately I'll take wins and championships.

And ultimately, by always ignoring context, you will be wrong every bit as often as you are right. The world's not so cut and dry my friend.

Henderson,

Bruce Pearl was 108 - 46 in his first five years as a D1 coach with 4 NCAA tourney appearances and a Sweet 16.
Coach X was 56-46 with no NCAA tourney appearances in his first five years as a D1 NCAABB head coach.

Since all that matters is WL record and tournaments, who is the better coach?

Define the circumstances behind Coach X's 56-46 record. Because Bruce took over a crap team at UT, and a not very good team at UWM.

Expecially fun when he takes a decent roster that everyone thinks has a legit shot to win the SEC and maek a lot of noise in March and drag it straight down because of his selfishness and arrogance, right?

Other than about 10 or so games the past three years, if you've found this crap fun to watch with the supposed talent on the court, then you really have no clue about bball.

I must admit, there's a part of me that hopes Pearl hangs around. It would be fun watching the broken, bloated shell of a coach slogging through the mess he created.

I haven't said all that matters is wins and losses. I said when comparing these 2 that's all that matters. You can't have 100 less losses and be a worse coach.

Crap team? When has he put together a roster better than the three guards Buzz left?

Well, we are comparing these two. Based on what I provided, who would be the better coach in some sort of time/space vacuum?

Also, this is a pretty weak argument considering we are comparing the overall body of work and not just five years of Pearl and O'Neill.

I could expand it out to 10 years or whatever, and Pearl would still have a pretty big leg up as it pertains to winning percentage and tourney appearances. I think it is completely fair.

Somebody believes there is more to figuring out coaches than whether they can win more than Buzz Peterson and Wade Houston.

Bruce Pearl and Kevin O'Neill. These are the 2 coaches I'm comparing. Could circumstances cause a better coach to win less? Yes. Would those circumstances follow him to every job?

So in 05 were you ready for the season, expecting it to be a good team? I can go back in the archives and show you where Hat said we would be lucky to win like 10 games, and I can show you where others said similar things.

I don't understand why stuff like this is necessary.
