Bruce Pearl Just Can't Seem To Grasp...

Call it my crazy imagination ,but i picture the majority of volnation storming CBP's house with torches and pitchforks. I cant recall a bigger witch hunt in sports.

There are a few vocal people here who really dislike Pearl. I think the majority like him but don't think he should keep coaching at Tennessee given the sanctions coming.

They aren't real fans.

Real fans want Pearl to stay regardless of sanctions

The we comment may have been a way to pull Hamilton in with him. Payback for the interview. I didn't see the interview so just a theory.

At first watching the game i was ready for CBP to be gone with such a poor showing. But, CBP has done alot of good to our BB program and after all is said and done i think if we keep him, we will become a team that teams dont want to play.. I mean you still love your kids even when they lie to you right?

Hamilton just spoke the truth. If there had been more of that by the BB staff there would be very little for the 'AA to be looking into.

Wrong. Hammy wouldn't know the truth if it hit him in the face. The fact is the timing was so overly the top horrible, it clearly shows that Hammy incompetant.

Bad analogy. He's an employee, not a child. He knew what he was doing and what the risks were, and he did it anyway. Actions have consequences.

that he, and he alone, is resposnsible for the 'AA mess. Saying "We got into this together" is the most delusional things I've heard in a long time from anyone not named Charlie Sheen.

You are so right. Nobody that I am aware of urged him to break a rule and then cover it up with a direct lie to the NCAA. HE did it. HE brought on the distractions this year. HE has no one else to blame but Bruce Pearl. I'm sorry because he added alot of spirit and success, but HE let Tennessee down and NOTHING changes that. No more tears. If Pearl is not dismissed, then Tennessee is in for a ton of criticism from rivals and opponents. HE has to leave or be dismissed despite how many like him.

You are defending the indefensible. Hamilton did not break the rules or lie to the NCAA. Pearl did that. Pearl did that. You know it, but seem to want to whitewash it. Pearl didn't just damage his own reputation, but damaged the University of Tenn as well. More importantly, his actions and the subsequent investigation and fallout have created embarrassment and distractions from anything else.

Hamilton didn't lie but he initiated this culture of impropriety with his Kiffin hire. Kiffin would unabashedly commit secondary violations in front of cameras, and Hamilton just giggled in the background. Some of us also cheered on his "bravado".

Very accurate.

Interesting take, especially when one realizes the BBQ that started all this mess occurred when Fulmer was the head football coach.

Didn't know that the lying and coverup, the unforgivable sins, occurred during Phil's tenure. Did he slip in and help coach?

Hamilton should be fired for throwing the team under the bus this week. Blaming him for Bruce's lies is ridiculous.

Hamilton should be fired first.

Then fire Bruce, regardless of what the NCAA will do. Bruce's negatives will be used against us for years in recruiting battles.

Although he has accomplished great things at Tennessee on the court, Bruce seems to bring in too many players that don't work out and are forced or choose to leave early (Duke Crews, Marques Johnson, Ramar Smith, Josh Tabb, Tyler Smith, Philip Jurick, Daniel West, Passley, etc.). Does this not seem like an incredibly long list for only being here 6 years? Plus, we seem to rely too much on transfers (JP Prince, Tyler Smith, Bobby Maze, Melvin Goins, John Fields, Josh Bone,...) Not saying anything bad about players that transfer, but again that is a long list for a 6 year tenure. And, you certainly don't have as much time to develop team chemistry.

Tennessee needs to go after a good coach like Brad Stevens and move on. Please don't bring in someone unproven (Wade Houston), or someone that has mixed success (Jerry Green & Buzz Peterson).

True. Saint Tressell at OSU should also be given the same treatment for lying to the NCAA.

Agree, but I have my doubts. Let's just see how many times per game that Tressell's issues are mentioned next year during TV broadcasts. I'd guess they will average somewhere between zero and one.

Bruce seems disappointed in himself right now, but yet if you look at his history, that won't be the case for long. He's consistently been under the 'AA's microscope, and he's willing to toss anyone under the bus to protect himself. Just look at the Deon Thomas recruitment as evidence Bruce only cares about himself.
