Bruce Pearl part of Memphis Tigers Midnight Madness

If Rick Barnes of Texas has a subpar season and they decide to make a change, Y could see CBP coaching there.

Frank Haith getting a slap on the wrist will only help Pearl land a pretty good gig his next go around instead of a mid major as I previously thought. Pearl will forever now look like the guy who got screwed instead of the guy who lied to the NCAA.

I don't think the NCAA will hold anything against him after his sanctions are up. It'll be up to a school to pull the trigger.

Gary Parrish just released an article pointing to the same conclusion after reading the basketball-related section of the full report. Haith lied and got a slap on the wrist.

I've read the NCAA statement. The say he is not credible, but they don't say he outright lied.

They basically said that they don't believe his story in regards to his assistant paying $10,000 in what can only be termed "hush money".

I think the difference is they can't prove he lied, which is flimsy justification.

they both deserved a punishment but Haith's is not enough just based off of what Pearl got. I don't know what the punishments should have been but they should have been at least equal to each other and Haith's probably should've been worse.

It's going to suck for us when he does go to another school. You know where ever he goes he'll win

The AD's in the SEC are familiar with how he can turn a program around and it wouldn't surprise me for him to land here somewhere. It will be rough facing him once or twice a year.

He will not be hired by a SEC school.

I totally agree. I would think he may even go back to a mid maj. He's young enough to coach a couple of places before he retires.

I think whether Pearl's a 'good guy' or not, he just got caught and tried to lie his way out of it. I dont think he'll make that mistake again if he's given another chance. There's no question he's a good coach.

BTW, the orange tie and suspenders was a planned deal at MM. Pastner had said on the radio that he was going to get Pearl to wear a blue jacket. Pearl had said he might wear the jacket but he'd have his orange suspenders on. It was funny and got the crowd involved early on.

Yeah I was there (designated driver) and that had to be one of the hightlights of the night... BP can work a crowd like no other.

Here is a clip of it. (first 40 - 45 secs.)
