I dont see how its any of Mike Slive's business. In this case, Auburn's Newton needs suspended... their coach needs suspended for playing him, and Miss. St. needs suspended for their role

Remember, this is a seperate suspension by SLIVE, not the NCAA. The NCAA hasn't decided on any punishment.

So the SEC is laying down punishment before the NCAA? Has there been a similar precedent like this set before? Honest question, i'm not up on my punishment history.

This may be the SEC actually helping us. They my feel our self-imposed punishments are not enough for the NCAA. This may actually help with the NCAA. Just a thought

we are likely to see the same type thing done to Auburn for the cam newton deal...alot of people are upset that the league hasnt done something already

The good news? We can prepare for it. We know have time to put in gameplans during christmas with Pearl and the team now understands "Okay, Tony will be the guy." It didn't come last moment.

Is there a precedent for this anywhere?

Sort of. The SEC already has a graduated fine system in place for storming the court or field at the conclusion of ballgames. The NCAA has no rule set forth. Conferences are allowed to police member institutions as long as the rules are not a conflict of interest with the NCAA bylaws.

Maybe Slive getting in licks before the FBI finds something on him/SEC in their Newton investigation.

With all that has been self-imposed and now what the SEC has imposed, I would bet whatever the 'AA decides, it won't be much more, if anything. I am satisfied with this decision.

You would hope this happens, but I expect more from the NCAA. I would not be surprised if UT gets one or two years of probation, and possible loss of scholarships. I think they will want to make an example of BP for lying to them. I hope none of this happens, but won't be surprised if it does.

I hope Coach Pearl doesn't take this any more seriously than we do. Everyone knows what an a*****e Slive is. Anyone have Mike's email address. I'd love to personally remind him what he is. He's so old and senile now that he might need a reminder.

Why would Slive act BEFORE the NCAA is done with their report?
If you are going to constantly prattle on about how you expect the SEC to be a beacon of compliance, you can't let guys flagarantly disregard rules and lie about having done so.

this just makes the SEC look stupid for doing nothing to Auburn. I'm sorry.. but i hope Alabama levels them next week

I know that. Just trying to remember this happening anywhere else.
