Pearl will be suspended the first 8 league games. Ouch.

I don't necessarily have a problem with it, except how in the world is $cam Newton still playing, then?

I guess this is what you get when the conference offices are located in the State of Alabama.

Just even more great news to go along with the fact that UT is stalling on signing his new contract until they get the official letter of inquiry from the NCAA.

pearl has had contract in his lawyers hands for several weeks. hold up is Bruce, not UT

In our case, the school and the coach made the confession.

Didn't Newton's dad confess to soliciting Miss st.? honest question, don't want to turn this into the cam newton thread, just sayin.

they aren't investigative. apparently the NCAA communicated with them the facts of the case and Slive made this ruling based on that.[/QUOTE said:
I get it. So he's waiting on the NCAA to finish up and then tell the SEC what happened?

On the radio they said it sounds like Pearl can't talk to the team 2 hours before a game, 60-90 minutes after a game, he may not even be allowed at practices!!!

THIS IS BS!!!!!

pearl's stuff has been proven....and he's a coach. alot different than allegations against an athlete, even though eventually those will all probably come out to be true too. pearl knowingly broke the rules, asked people to lie about his breaking the rules, lied to the ncaa about knowingly breaking rules and then confessed to knowingly lyinging about rules he knowingly knew he broke

If this is the new SEC response to violations... Gene Chizik should just resign now.

The SEC isnt ivestigative. All info surrounding Newton is pure speculation at this point. Bruce openly admitted infractions and lying to cover them up. They arent related at all.

Looks like Slive was smart though as far as ratings. First game Bruce is back is TN vs. Kentucky. Coincidence?

I knew he knew you would know because they knowingly knew it all.

It was just reported this week that Pearl has signed the contract and it is back in the hands of UT legal now. He said this on the Zone here in Nashville earlier this week. THEY are the ones holding it up. I would imagine to see what happens next month.

So the SEC is laying down punishment before the NCAA? Has there been a similar precedent like this set before? Honest question, i'm not up on my punishment history.

never seen this before. from the statement released by Cheek and Hamilton, appears this is a new latitude that the commish got from school presidents back in spring so I guess this is first time he has acted with new marching orders.

i think when 5 different people come forward with the same allegations, and there are text messages and voicemails to confirm "pay for play plans" ... that we can move past saying its simply "speculation"

Slive isnt going to cost the SEC a shot at a title game. He'd rather play for one and then have it voided.. than not play for one at all
