Bruce Pearl Suspended

What do you love more? UT or your hatred of Bruce. Because I seriously think that the basketball program going down in flames doesn't bother you as long as Bruce gets his.

Who do YOU love more...UT or Pearl. It's pretty obvious given "fans" like you believe it's a forgone conclusion that the program will go to crap if Pearl leaves. It's almost like you want the program to fail if Pearl isn't here. So here's a suggestion, why don't you find another team to root for if Pearl is sent packing?

DeVoe was a magnificent tactician. However, he was a poor recruiter and the program had grown stagnant. It was time for him to go.

Hat, I know you've been asked this many times before, but perhaps it would help here, too.

This current season ends. You've just been named AD (ponder that for a moment, Hat-haters) as the 'AA has announced its penalties to be of sufficient strenghth to compel UT to fire both Pearl and Hammy. You've got the use of the UT plane, and a blank contract for $2M/yr base for 5 years (with incentives for performance being add'l).

Who are the first three coaches who YOU go see?

Who are the first three coaches who start blowing up your cell, wanting to express interest (and who's call you'd take)?

How many days until the presser, and who's wearing the orange tie?

You ladies are talking about basketball schools. Before Pearl, no decent basketball coach would even take a look at Tennessee because of its reputation of a football school in a football conference. Sure Devoe took us to the NCAAT but did he even come close to WINNING in the NCAAT. DEvoe was a good x&o coach but despised recruiting. At the present time Tennesse might be more attractive to a big time basketball coach. Keep in mind the reason it might be is because of Pearl. I'd rather sweat it out with him than to see us put up one trial ballon after another and maybe find another coach to replace him. I've been around since before Mears and the Ernie Bernie show and probably know more about the trials and tribulations of our basketball program than probably half the people on here including hat and lawvol. IMO it's best to just wait and see. After all, look how long it was between Mears and Pearl.
DeVoe won an NCAA Tournament game in each of his first five appearances. For someone who claims to know so much about UT basketball, you sure are crappy at getting the facts right.

Question One: I make trips to Wichita, Columbia, and Dayton.

Question Two: Andy Kennedy, Lon Kruger, and Rick Majerus.

Question Three: Seven days and Gregg Marshall.

I'm drinking the Gregg Marshall kool-aid, but Columbia? To talk to Darrin Horn? I didn't think you were a fan.

Now that penalties have been handed down and the dust is starting to settle, I have not read anything about how these events transpired?

What event prompted the NCAA investigation?

How did the photo with Kraft get into the hands of the NCAA?

Did the Kraft's turn on him after they made their move to OSU?

Was this some kind of revenge move against Pearl for his attempt at whistle blowing on a big 10 team?

If not then whistle blowing by the Ohio State athletic department?

You'll have to forgive the "real fans," they didn't watch much basketball before Pearl got here.

I never said anything about real fans. BTW, I watched alot of Tennessee basketball before Pearl. Maybe thats why I think it will be extremely difficult if he is gone.

That doesn't even make sense. I want us to continue being successful. I am not sure why you sensed that. I will definitely be there no matter what. Will you?

That he got people interested? Yeah, that's great. That doesn't excuse the utter stupidity of comments like the one from our friend rich.

BTW, what do you consider a stupid comment. This might seem difficult for someone as arrogant as yourself but having a different opinion than someone doesn't make either party an idiot, it is just a different opinion. Maybe one day you will grow up and learn that.

Do you consider Green's time here a success? I don't. There is a reason nobody else hired him.

That's the point. The fact someone who no one else wants can get to the Sweet 16, win SEC championships, and reach the NCAA tourny 4 straight years here means that it isn't hard to find someone to succeed here.

well, just now on ESPNU they said Pearl can't participate in any team activities during his suspension. that is in contradiction to what Katz reported. So what is the deal???

Find a bb coach to win at ut is like finding a fb coach to win at miss st. people like mullen come once every 20 yrs to msu so they better keep him. a pearl comes like once every 30 yrs to ut. so we are in a jam either way. he won't be as effective from here on out. and if he is fired we won't get a top coach like him. kinda takes your heart out. i liked going to the bb games.

I'm guessing you missed Jackie Sherrill winning the SEC West and making a bunch of bowl games at State. I'm beginning to wonder if our fans pay even the slightest bit of attention to what is actually happening and instead simply make stuff up to fit their fairy tale beliefs.

No, it's not just a different opinion. It is, at best, ignorant. If you want to conveniently leave the facts out, that fine, but I am going to call you on it. Deal with it or shut the hell up.

Also, will someone please provide me a source for this rule that says an opinion can't be stupid? There seem to be a whole load of people that believe that load of crap. They are probably the same folks that think that every kid deserves a trophy.

It actually wasn't too long ago was it? I remember them being in the top 25 around 2004 or so.

Sylvester Croom made a bowl game there. However, pointing things like that out wouldn't further the agenda of attempting to make Pearl indispensible.

Or MSU just wasn't a good example.

Wow I was totally off on the dates. They were horrible in the early 2000s, mainly from 2002 on. That's the earliest record I found on ESPN.

Croom was in the Liberty Bowl in 07 against UCF. MSU actually won the game, 10-3.

I had forgotten he made a bowl game during his tenure.

That can't be true. Like Tennessee basketball, there's only one coach on the planet who can accomplish anything with Mississippi State football.
