Bruce Pearl Suspended

Pearl's suspension is nothing more than Sly asserting his power. The ability to punish a team/coach for a violation was just handed to him in the last 11 months. The reason it sucks, and that it is "the total package",(courtesy of hitch) sucks even more. Now in 5 yrs. We look back and see that this is the first and only.... Then i'd say it's fair to be pissed. One thing that is undeniable, is that Pearls actions were the cause of these penalties. So Pearl's fans should accept the penalties for what they are.....penalties. Personally, I don't think CBP will be coaching at UT for another year. I hate it, but just a feeling, and if i'm the new president, i'm looking at MH, and saying,"get his F'n contract signed , NOW!!!!" because the longer he goes w/o signing it, the closer he is to leaving, again, JMO.

Not gonna lie, I wouldn't have been able to control myself as well as he did in the Erin Andrews hug-gate. I would have been all over that woman.

My grandfather used to say... " I don't know a lot about sex, but I'd play with her balls."

not, he should follow his own protocol and what he has set forth in the past with his comments and actions. Let the school handle thier own situations. Did the big east suspend patino? Wonder what he would have done if donovan had done this.

The past changed when they gave the Commissioner the authority to suspend institutional staff members from participation in recruiting activities, participation in practice and competition due to their involvement in violations of NCAA or SEC rules.

The Big East does not set standards for the SEC. If it had been Donovan would you feel an 8 game suspension was appropriate?

so now we have 3 levels of punishment, institution, conference, and ncaa....none considering what the other is doing for punishment unless they want too? interesting, sounds like triple jeopardy

interesting point, so now with that authority, can the ncaa not say that the sec lost institutional control and put the entire sec under probation or whatever. If you are willing to step up in that authority, should you not have to be accountable to that authority level.

i like it, we need to sue.....where are the lawyers on this board...

Ok, so I am not allowed to comment on what another coach did immorally, but it is ok for the conference commissioner to suspend a coach because he lied(moral issue)
Marital fidelity is probably not the best card for a Pearl supporter to be playing.

get over yourself. Ye who have no sin shall cast the first stone. My god, no different than you telling your wife that that dress dont make her butt look big. He committed a secondary violation and than lied about it. He is not anywhere near what Patino did, you f******* holy rollers kill me

That Bible you like quoting also says to judge people by their fruits. Pearl's fruit looks pretty rotten.

The timing can be understood with a little bit of thought.

But what is going on at Auburn has nothing to do with Pearl. The day our fanbase stops trying to play the But Other Places Are Doing Worse Things card, the better off we'll be as a whole.Posted via VolNation Mobile

If there is anything that has come out about our fanbase in the last few months that I loathe, it's this. We have way too many "Waaaa look at what they did" crybabies in our fanbase; which is even funnier since before all this as a fanbase we constantly bashed other fanbases for doing this and supposedly held ourselves to a higher standard. It kind of sucks realizing we're no different than any other idiot fanbase.

Bruce loves one thing. Bruce.

What do you love more? UT or your hatred of Bruce. Because I seriously think that the basketball program going down in flames doesn't bother you as long as Bruce gets his.

There is a much greater chance the program goes down in flames if Bruce stays because of the limits on recruiting and his bad rep on the recruiting trail now.

I seriously doubt it. I know some people will make you think that we can just get anybody we want and continue being successful, but that simply isn't true. We aren't a Kansas or a North Carolina. Historically, we are more of a Washington State or Texas Tech. It may be decades before we compete again.

No matter what Bruce does, the basketball program will be just fine.

First of all that doesn't have to happen and shouldn't. Secondly, where do you draw the line as to when a transgression becomes too large to overlook in favor of the program? Is there any?

I know, history proves that. Oh wait, no it doesn't. History shows that before Bruce got here our programs claim to fame was a coach that had a small amount of success over thirty years ago. Before Bruce got here if you mentioned Tennessee basketball to somebody not from around here, they would usually just mention the women's program. Do not let your hatred of Bruce cloud your judgement about how much he has meant to this program.

Jerry Green coached over thirty years ago?

Pitt should have packed it in when Howland left for UCLA. There's no way they could replace him.
You ladies are talking about basketball schools. Before Pearl, no decent basketball coach would even take a look at Tennessee because of its reputation of a football school in a football conference. Sure Devoe took us to the NCAAT but did he even come close to WINNING in the NCAAT. DEvoe was a good x&o coach but despised recruiting. At the present time Tennesse might be more attractive to a big time basketball coach. Keep in mind the reason it might be is because of Pearl. I'd rather sweat it out with him than to see us put up one trial ballon after another and maybe find another coach to replace him. I've been around since before Mears and the Ernie Bernie show and probably know more about the trials and tribulations of our basketball program than probably half the people on here including hat and lawvol. IMO it's best to just wait and see. After all, look how long it was between Mears and Pearl.
