You guys know as much as we do, which I don't think is all that much..

I am still waiting on the premium board updates.. on his visit

Right now all we know is he had a really good time, like what he heard, but what recruits don't say that?

I am less optimistic despite the Butler page update suggesting that LSU is a contender come March 16th...

Well, early reports here were that he didn't seem to have a very good time.

Then, the news kept getting better from that point. For a while now, it's been pretty positive, and you know, we're a good fit for this guy.

I think the guy is just a bit uptight in social settings...

I won't be suprised if you guys land him

There is no way any other team in his top teams would use him better than ut would. He would be the heart and soul of our team for three maybe four years.

You guys have players, and besides he is on record of saying he doesn't want to be the savior of a program, so that comment doesn't bode well actually

Late is defined by a visit in November and still no signing in March.

He's either coming to UT or going to the U. The relationship between his dad, his brother, Randy Shannon, Bryce and the U is pivotal--and difficult to read through the media.

Doesn't seem difficult to read to me. They've been pretty direct about it. But, I guess they could be hiding something.

Dad said that Miami was where he wanted Bryce to go. But, a lot has happened between coaching changes, mixed signals out of Miami, etc. By what Brown has said, sounds to me like he always wanted to go to Oregon but his parents have been pressuring him to at least look around.

I don't see the early visit and no sign being late. Funny that you think it is but being committed to Miami all this time is not. From a recruits perspective, I think teams that recruited him early look better because they had a planned role for him from early on. Talking about "how we plan on using Brown" has to sound a bit disingenuous coming from teams that weren't even in the picture until Brown brought them in at the end of recruiting season.

I agree but let me clarify. We have good O line- just very thin. and we have a solid defense with great players everywhere except maybe tackle and they could still prove a lot of people wrong. What I ment was, we would use him to all of his abilities better. I agree he doesn't want to be the savior, but he doesn't just want to be a role player somewhere on the depth chart. At UT he will be the starter probably for day one, and give our other backs and O-line something to work for.

His heart may be with oregon but his brain (and pops) will point him at UT in the end IMO.

I think there are a lot of brain reasons to go to Oregon too. Didn't hurt Jonathan Stewarts career.

But, you could be right that his parents may have the final sway. I'm not placing any bets in any direction at this point.

UT got in late with Brown but remember we had a coaching change. Only the new staff had the confidence to go after him.

I know my parents would have tremendous sway in a life decision like that. Thats why if UM is out (which still seems to be a mystery) then UT is in IMO

Good point about the long-time relationship with the Canes. The biggest difference, in my mind, is that he has that ongoing active dispute with Canes and the story that his dad plans to visit.

My hope is that the visit is to pick up Arthur Jr and deposit him with BB in Knoxville.

that's the most important aspect of the vols recruitment of him...these coaches have been after him since day one on the job. don't think of us as getting in late we just started on a different time frame

It seems UT and OU are his favorites which makes me think what direction are his parents leaning? They are leaning UM KS and UT from what has been said so that IMO will be the deciding factor in the end

That sounds about right. I get the impression his parents are about as pro-Oregon as I am. :p

Who wants to spend their weekends in weather best suited for ducks?

If AB Jr. stays in Miami and BB opted for duck weather, they couldn't possibly have their sons playing any further apart.

Heh. Brings up a good question. Is he still going to visit Miami at all now?

I haven't seen confirmation whether the LSU trip was official or not?

If I understand it correctly, the Miami thing is a total controversy. The Canes seems to be sticking to their 'he has no offer, although we have one available line," while Butler insists that he still has a scholly offer from the Canes.

We've got another super player deciding this Friday. If we get him, that could help our case, but I don't really know. From the link in Sabo's post, you can see that BB already likes our Oline and their work ethic--and we do have Stocker, a big TE who can block well. Charles can also catch the ball and the Vols have cleared out players listed in that position lately.

I've said several times, that Charles, Brown, and Oku, the three players still in play for us, could all fit quite nicely in our current system. They'd all get a lot of playing time together.

Oku may be a bit intimidated by BB, though, instead of seeing the benefit of dual threat backfield as he should. I've read our coaches have gone cold on Oku, so we may only be trying for Charles and Brown. :dunno:

Our 2010 class will blow away any we've seen since our rising junior class (a top 5 class). We always got top 5 classes in the mid- to late- '90's and early 2000's, so most are hoping the gravy train is coming back soon--and, honestly, that's the feeling in the air with what may be the best recruiting staff ever assembled.
